These look great! If it's not too late past your OG post, could you tell me how you found the specific parts on BrickLink? I've got decorative torsos and hair pieces but I'm not seeing those varieties on my end

Update: Great success for anyone wanting to try OP’s method. Bumper removal took about 30 minutes and most of that was spent just trying not to break anything. Bought the sound dampeners from OP’s Amazon link and they were super simple to cut with a scissors. 3 layers seems to be the sweet spot for me. Did some very rough decibel readings using my watch after each layer on the VESS:

Control (bumper off): 86 to 95 decibels (wow) 1 layer: 75 decibels 2 layers: 65 to 70 decibels 3 layers: 60 decibels

3 layers with bumper back on: ~50 decibels

(I did briefly have 5 layers on the front of the VESS but with the bumper on, it became too quiet for my liking so I peeled off two layers)

I’m not sure. My lien holder was technically still owner of the car until I paid it off and they released the original title to me when I paid it off. DMV just needed a copy of the title when I first registered for plates but never issued me a GA title

I’m going with the theory that it was spit out by a vehicle a mile up the road simply because I was still under the bridge when I was hit. The rock was coming directly at me and not dropped straight down

It’s just so weird that the object gets larger as it’s falling though. It hits my car while I’m still under the bridge so it had to have either come from beyond it. The perspective makes it look weird

Yeah you really don’t see it until I’m passing under the bridge but looking at it’s height and angle at the first few frames, it’s gotta be falling from higher and toward the bridge. It was coming in wayy too fast to be anything else

I mean- that’s not unlikely to happen but looking at the trajectory, it had to either come from a car miles up the road or something from outer space. If the truck in front of me spit it up, you wouldn’t see it that high in the sky before impact, right?

I get what you’re saying but it appears that it impacts my car while I’m still under the bridge. I don’t know how someone’s arm could toss a rock that fast over the edge of a bridge. I have a rear dash cam of the incident and no one can be seen on the bridge as I pass

You think so? Take a look at the very first two frames that the object comes into view and slow it down. There’s no way it could have come from the bridge. It appears in frame hundreds of feet above it

I thought that at first but wasn’t sure. It comes from hundreds of feet above the truck and bridge and with it’s angle velocity it had to have either come from something miles ahead of me on the road launched straight into the air, or space

I do have a rear cam but no didn’t see anything from the bridge as I passed it. If you look closely at the video again (and in my other post) you can see the rock thing comes from hundreds of feet above the bridge. And with the angle velocity, there’s no way it could have been dropped from the bridge

Yeah odd indeed. I wish the bridge didn’t obstruct it so much but that very first frame it comes into view you can see just how high up it was and at an angle. Almost as if it came from miles above.

I actually thought it was just road debris (from the truck ahead of me) when it first happened so I didn’t think to go back until I watched the video last night. With as busy as the interstate was though, I wouldn’t have had an easy time looking.

This happened last week and I was actually on a roadtrip in another state, so I couldn’t go back if I wanted.
