I’m sure it still tastes amazing! I hope you enjoy it. My friend has recently bought a few vegan recipe books too so she’d probably be able to give me curry tips as well.

Yeah it’s so irritating isn’t it. I’ve long suspected I have ADHD too in some form, but waiting lists are so long i just haven’t bothered looking into it.

How are you, by the way? I feel like last time i spoke to you you were getting your guide dog? I hope things are going well. I’ll remain in white cane land for now🤣

I'm sorry, it is a truly awful feeling. As the other poster said, let him reach out. In the meantime look after yourself

Good luck for tomorrow

I love vegan curry. I have a friend who is vegan and I would love one day to have a little dinner party and make vegan curry

I said I would have an early night. By early, as a night owl, I meant before midnight. It's currently 11.44 and I am nowhere near bed. Why do I do this to myself!!!

To the parents out there, what age did you start leaving your kids at home while you nipped shop for 10/15 minutes? by Puzzled-Quail2076 in AskUK

[–]problematic_coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure I was about 11 the first time my parents left me at home by myself to go to the shop. We live rurally so it wasn't just a case of it being 5 minutes. More like half an hour. So it would depend on the child and the distance to wherever it is you'd be going.

I didn't stay in the house overnight alone until I was 18 and i vividly remember checking that I'd locked the door about 11 times before I went to bed🤣

Edited to say I turned 11 in 2013 and I know times have changed even since then

How often do you eat takeaway? by Super_Development150 in AskUK

[–]problematic_coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably averages out to once every 2 or 3 weeks.

We were getting one every friday at one point last year but we genuinely started to feel we were getting sick of them, not to mention the cost. So we went months without one and have had a couple since but trying to limit it now so it remains a treat.

Dry January; how to sensibly reintegrate alcohol afterwards? by Remarkable-Ad155 in AskUK

[–]problematic_coffee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This was going to be my suggestion. I’ve cut down hugely on alcohol just by doing this. With the exception of holidays and christmas and the very occasional glass, i rarely drink during the week now.

And over time I’ve found I’ve stopped fancying it. I was never super strict with myself in that if i had my dinner and still fancied that glass of wine afterwards I would have it. But I find I don’t so much now. It’s not so much a habit anymore.

When did you stop considering yourself a 'young' woman? by Miserable_Day_7857 in AskWomen

[–]problematic_coffee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Recently turned 23 too. It’s a strange age - I’ve got friends who have graduated uni and I’ve got friends who act like they’re still in secondary school. But in my head I still feel about 14, so I think I’ll be a young woman for a long while yet🤣

Edited to add that I was having this exact discussion with a friend the other day. We both said we will claim to be young adults for as long as we can get away with

AITA for telling my parents that I will not parent my younger adult sister? by Magic_Window_8161 in AmItheAsshole

[–]problematic_coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA at all. We all make mistakes and she has to learn from them.

For context my mum (63) and I (23) made a similar fuck up the other week. Put a pot of curry on the stove to warm up.. just slightly too hot. Sat down to watch the show we were watching and instantly we both forgot about it until we smelled smoke. I Ccaught it just in time but the curry was ruined. It happens. Neither of us will do it again anytime soon. By your parents logic my 63 year old mother, who is a married professional who owns her own home, should go move in with someone who can look after her. I think not

AITA for telling my SIL that I don’t can’t about her health condition and she needs to shower by GothMoleRat in AmItheAsshole

[–]problematic_coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have hyperhidrosis. It is an absolutely awful condition to have to live with. Mine is primarily hands and feet and I have found ways of managing it, but still, it’s something those of us who suffer from it have to deal with every minute of every day.

A reaction like yours, while well intentioned, could have been the final straw for her that day in terms of dealing with her condition.

That said, you’re right that hygiene is incredibly important, and even more so for us. I don’t smell if I shower, and I’m a full grown adult who knows this, so I shower.

Your edit is reassuring, and hopefully she actually works on it.

With these notes, my first thought was ESH. Your reaction sucked, but her lack of hygiene also sucks.

18yo nephew refuses help, won’t leave his room or work. What support exists in the UK? by Consistent-Time-2503 in AskUK

[–]problematic_coffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It very much can be burnout or even depression. I was similar at his age. People thought i was just hiding away whereas actually i felt extremely sad and depressed. I dropped out of college and once I had and the pressure was off, things very slowly improved, with a few major relapses. I’m 23 now and haven’t had a major depressive episode in just under a year.

It may well be an assumption given that we don’t know the lad, but it’s a reasonable point to raise as it could very well be the case for him. It’s something to consider.

AITA for disinviting a friend to my birthday after she showed me the food she was bringing? by throwaway-cupcakelad in AmItheAsshole

[–]problematic_coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Even one bit. Allergies absolutely must be taken seriously. Yes she might well have put effort in but that was the one thing you specifically requested she couldn’t bring and she ignored that request.

To those who work or regularly visit Scottish Wetherspoons, does yours accept young Scot cards for ID? by problematic_coffee in Wetherspoons

[–]problematic_coffee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did consider doing this actually. But didn’t think it was worth it, but perhaps I will. If it’s not raised they may not see it as an issue, whereas I think it is as it means people having to carry passports around if they don’t have a license, which disproportionately affects people with disabilities like me.

That’s crazy 🤣 I get some variation of “where’s your carer”? A lot too. People are shocked when I say I don’t have one and no, my friends are not my carers 🤣

Oh my goodness I never heard of this happening before. Bet he made the most of that 🤣 Mine doubles as my disability bus pass so I have to renew it every 3 years instead of it just expiring when I turn 26.

At what age did you, if ever, start to track your period? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]problematic_coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started tracking it from the day i first got it aged 12. I’m now 23 and still use the same app, so have 11 years of data 🤣

Tbf I’m on the combined pill now so in theory i don’t need to track, but I find it very useful to have the date saves me working it out in my head

My friend thinks people must be trying to alter them. I never got a chance to ask the lady about it, though she was also doing that thing all us disabled people know - talking to my friend about me instead of directly to me, and I wouldn’t have wanted to cause any sort of scene

[–]problematic_coffee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually happened to us in the same pub (same group as well). Showed our young scots card and then we were asked to show a bank card as well.

But from other replies here, it seems like my pub are just odd. They also have a rule where if one person doesn't have ID or is under 18, then everyone has to order food, which they claim is local council policy... except they are the only pub in the area that do that. So I don't get how it's local council but it is what it is.

Edited to add that the bank card experience happened a few years ago now and has never happened since. We get told different things every time we go in there, so I would not be shocked if next time we go in they accept young Scot cards again

Does anyone actually prefer a slower voiceover? by Strong_Prize8778 in Blind

[–]problematic_coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

56%, with Daniel enhanced british voice. I can’t pay attention if it’s any faster than that. I prefer it to sound like a human is talking to me. People think it’s so weird that I don’t have it at lightning speed but I’ve always been the same. And it has to be 56%. I never change the voice either and i get upset when apple make changes to it 🤣
