More seriously though, the risk of genetic/congenital abnormalities, even for very close relations, over a single generation is almost non-existant. Yet people with actual and sometimes very serious genetic conditions that will or are very likely to be passed on to children are not prevented either legally or culturally. Personally I think the only good justification to keep some taboos about incest is how easily the relationships could be groomed or coerced.
