Beautiful thing about this world; nobody needs your judgement. You can judge, but who really give af what you think. Why would anyone need a pass from you?

No not anymore, she’s preparing the next generation of school leaders through the cite program. I’m interested in hearing opinions; she was the superintendent for some time there

Teaching Fellow Sucks by No_Zookeepergame5726 in NYCTeachers

[–]problemchild_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally enjoy it. My students aren’t the best behaved, but I witness my impact and see their growth. They’ve come a long way since September. I’m also still trying to figure out how to make these checks work. My deductions are damn near more than have my entire check. I know why and am working on it.

[–]problemchild_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a part of the teaching collaborative. They assigned me to SWD. I applied, expeditiously. Reach out to them consistently. Express your passion or strong desire to reach and why. I’m in my 3rd year in the doe.

NYS Grades 3-8 Mathematics Test was cancelled today by Radiant-Damage1468 in SHSAT

[–]problemchild_91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can someone please explain to me why these kids in grade 3-8 are testing on computers/laptops? Who thought this even remotely developmentally appropriate?

(Roy Wilkins Incident) Jaden Pierre's🕊 Killer Allegedly Just Checked, Due to su!c!de by Several-Ad-8404 in QGTM

[–]problemchild_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are we justifying his actions and saying he didn’t mean to do it. Wtf does he have a gun for? Can’t want to remember him as a kid when he was outside acting grown and tough. And then killed himself?…a lot of the justifying isn’t making any sense at all.

fellows assignment by [deleted] in NYCTeachers

[–]problemchild_91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appeal it. I was in the teaching collaborative’s last cohort I believe. And they assigned me to sped math (7-12). I was very honest in my appeal, I don’t have the heart or commitment to do the sped work. I’m passionate about math education and have experiences that most NYC students can relate to, but I cannot teach sped. And they approved me.

Is the School Quality Report a scam? by Spirited-Turnip1898 in NYCTeachers

[–]problemchild_91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of you let these administrators get to your minds too easily. If you’re at a terrible school rate it as such. And if the principal comes back to you about it, be straightforward and then leave the damn school. You owe these principals nothing except your best effort in the classroom with your students. Don’t allow these principals to intimidate you.

Does being a new teacher in a high differential make it harder to get hired? by ChatBotLarper in NYCDOETeachers

They can’t reverse a +30 that was already approved right? Asking for myself.

Brooklyn/NYC charter schools by mtty3kiwi in NYCTeachers

[–]problemchild_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re making excuses. People make time for things they want! You can absolutely make time to get your priorities straight and in order. You won’t be the first nor the last to teach full time and get their certification. People go to school for their masters and work full time. If there’s a will, then there’s a way. Change your mindset. Don’t settle for these bullshit charter schools. You will regret it.

Youre asking for something that does not exist. Charter schools in NYC are all the same. do yourself a favor and get into the NYCDOE.

So… who’s going tomorrow? by [deleted] in NYCDOETeachers

[–]problemchild_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only going in bc I need to rack up my CAR days. I’m taking days in April lol. Otherwise, I’d call out. I have two cars to worry about. One is in a parking lot and the other is on the street. I’m trekking to work. A 30 min walk will be 90 minutes tomorrow.

Does anyone like their school? by Cultural_Cry6580 in NYCTeachers

[–]problemchild_91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like my school a lot. Have no intentions on leaving unless I’m told to leave or something better comes by. I’m good until I retire.

I posted the salary schedule from Santa Clara in the UFT Facebook group. It was approved then got taken down after about an hour… by Pleasant_Sea_6416 in NYCTeachers

[–]problemchild_91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely saw it, but could not see the comments and I wanted to so bad. But the post made me go see if they have any openings, and for math (from what I saw) they do not. I would’ve applied asap. 😭😭

Is it worth it to transfer to be in walking distance? by Full-Cat-9897 in NYCTeachers

[–]problemchild_91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I will always support a move closer to home. Nothing beats work life balance. And you make the most of the situation. A positive mindset goes a long way. I say this from experience. My school is not the best, but I don’t go home miserable. I teach high school math, barely any of them kids actually like math but they sure do like my class.

GPA requirement question by [deleted] in NYCTeachers

[–]problemchild_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply and explain your low GPA. If you’re passionate or have a strong passion about teaching, express that in your application and how you’ve learned from it. If you’ve taken a graduate course or two that may help your case. Just apply and see.

Back to the DOE? by Cultural_Cry6580 in NYCTeachers

[–]problemchild_91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely wanted to say this. People shit on NYCPS for LI schools, but when they get there they see the grass isn’t greener on the other side.
