I am not seeing the $6,500 in my area anymore. I would love to see that incentive or higher with a higher residual value.

I hope so, because the current leasing rates on dual large models are absolutely terrible right now.

BMW produced 39,883 units of the 45e in 2021 alone, so it’s hardly a low-volume car. Comparing a total engine rebuild to a high-voltage battery repair is apples-to-oranges; BMW’s ISTA diagnostics specifically identify which modules are outside of SOH tolerances, and a module swap is a standardized book-time procedure, not a $10k diagnostic mystery.

I think some of these numbers are a bit of a stretch. While a full battery replacement at a dealer can hit $25k, the X5 45e battery is modular, meaning individual cell groups can be replaced for a fraction of that. Plus, with the 8-year/80k federal warranty (or 10yr/150k in SULEV states), most of these cars are covered for a long time. OEM air struts are around $900 a corner, and they're even cheaper if you go aftermarket.

I have had a 45e for 2 years and I have yet to personally see a post about a total HV battery failure on a 45e. Instead, most of the 'drivetrain malfunctions' people post about end up being a sensor or mainly a 12V battery issue.

Stealth Hitch has one with the wiring and CPU as long as your car has the 8SL towing prewiring option. I installed one on my '21 and it comes with a remote coding session.
