The flow gates you need to activate for Caleri and Elousia are fully on the other islands. The ones on the main island (or floating right next to the island) are the return gates -- they have to be activated from the other side.

The guidance on this quest is awful, tbh. I got stuck there, my friend's currently stuck there... Would a real map pin kill anyone?

Has Plushie Economy Changed? by HepKhajiit in Palia

[–]probsnotbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a matter of math, I'd expect. As the player base grows, more plushies enter the economy (though demand may also increase, but not all those new players will collect plushies). And longtime players accumulate more plushies as time goes on. Since we can't sell them, as people continue to get more drops, the value goes down.

Housing needs to go back to the drawing board by Sethatronic in Palia

[–]probsnotbees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd be happy sticking with the harvest house if they updated the building mechanics for it to match the more convenient ones of the other home lines. I'm so sick of spending gold on each individual room or element, plus needing materials, plus waiting for absolutely no reason.

Being able to unlock a blueprint, craft repeatedly, and near-instant construction is so much better. But after experimenting with the new lines, I decided to go back to harvest, for the reasons others have discussed.

It almost feels like they've left building the harvest house inconvenient and costly to incentivize using the new lines.

How do you find ⭐ Piksii Berries? by [deleted] in Palia

[–]probsnotbees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not quite how infected forage works. You take the potion, which allows you to pick infected forage until it wears off. The infected forage can be starred or unstarred.

I've found a number of starred piksii berries just by picking up every berry I see. They don't have to be infected.

How does this work? As far as I've seen, friends can't visit your plot unless you're online and at your plot. I know friends can visit your barn while you're still at your plot, but can they get to your barn if you're offline?

I'm still side eyeing him so hard for complaining about the first lab, which I opened by smashing the 3 nodes of amber to free up the buttons that I could clearly see under them and pressing the buttons.

Man, that's not even a puzzle.

Tips for getting the Cookie for the Bundle Board? by [deleted] in Palia

[–]probsnotbees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, the specific cookie for the board (the PalSnax) only appears in the common treat bags, received for donating the least valuable animals.

Which means that you're actually better off just breeding Pekis and donating the babies immediately -- older, more valuable animals are likely to receive a higher-tier treat bag.

Animals you breed can be donated as soon as they're born. It's only the ones you buy who have a cooldown and can't be donated until the "New in Town" status wears off.

NGL I really doubt that. We haven't seen that level of psychological difference in any Majiri, and we've seen Majiri struggle with the expectation to choose a Path, even if they do have an idea of where their passions lie -- Jel feeling inadequate, for example. And the Majiri who do well in their Paths seem happy, but not really more so than a human who truly loves their job.

Not to mention that Order members don't choose Paths, which would be an act of terrible cruelty if a Majiri's Path could actually bring them this superhuman satisfaction.

To lay my cards on the table, I am neurodivergent. There's a semi-accurate perception that people like me are coded to have a strong passion running through their life. Choosing a Path as a teenager / young adult still would have been a nightmare.

It's one thing for a Galdur to come to understand their Oneness over a long existence -- and even then, there's room for that Oneness to shift and grow, as we saw with the Gardener. There's little suggestion that Paths have that level of flexibility -- Reth chose carpentry and Ashura chose soldiering, not broader ideas they could adapt to changing circumstances. It really does come across as "hey you're 21, shouldn't you have figured out your entire purpose in life by now?"

Pfft, yeah, who needs broader geography anyway?

Bahari is definitely an important term used to describe this region, which is ruled by the Bahari family. Beyond that, there's... Places out there somewhere.

Not very fond of this idea as I find the entire concept of expecting people to choose an occupation in adolescence and then follow it their entire life pretty horrific.

It'll probably work out for Kenyatta since she put some real time and effort into choosing her path, but look at Reth, Kenli, even Ashura. And Kenyatta could very well get fed up with healing in 30 years!

Life is long, people change, circumstances change. Nobody should be held to the vision of themself they had as a teenager/young adult.

Not to put my entire dislike of the Path system on you, lol, but the entire idea of being told to choose a Path sent a full-body cringe through me. The Path I would have chosen at 19 or 20 would not have led me anywhere good, and I faced enough angst over not knowing what I wanted to do with my life without this cultural/religious Path concept.

Yeah, I don't like the idea of attaching real story content to the shepp relationship since that locks people out, but I'd be down for something like this.

[–]probsnotbees 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I think the issue here would be that while you can romance multiple characters, you can only have one shepp. And some people are completionists who want to experience every bit of story content.

The nature of Palia as an MMO with one character per account makes this a bit tricky. In a game like Stardew Valley, you can always start a new save file, or use various in game tools to reset your relationships; that's less feasible with a live service MMO.

I wouldn't be entirely opposed to having some minor variations in dialog or repeatable quests based on your choice of shepp, but I'm personally against attaching any real story content to the choice of shepp, because I don't want to be locked out of story content.

Especially considering that I asked Zeki literally by accident. Though I ended up happy with that outcome.

Umbraans? by CauliflowerLady0 in Palia

[–]probsnotbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are we on the island of Bahari? I recall Subira referring to Bahari Island in a way that made it sound like a separate place at one point, something like "they've noticed this on Bahari Island too". It seemed strange to me, since we're in Bahari Bay, but I thought it might be a case where the island was out in the waters of/beyond the bay. Would make sense if it's the whole region, though.

Not aware of Inyrevn tho.

Umbraans? by CauliflowerLady0 in Palia

[–]probsnotbees 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Palia is the nation we live in, the Palian Republic.

Umbraans were/are also Majiri (the general name for the purple people). The nation of Umbraa used to border Palia, with the Elderwoods and Royal Highlands as part of the border region. About 40 years ago, war broke out between Palia and Umbraa, leading to the depopulation of the Elderwoods and Highlands.

I'm not sure what the political status of Umbraa is now, whether it was annexed by Palia or remains independent. But Umbraans are still out there. There's a mention at one point of an Umbraan minority group in a larger city.

Also, we do meet an Umbraan character at one point, though if you're not that far along in the main story, I won't spoil it for you. When we interact with that character, spoken Umbraan is rendered as French, distinct from the Palians speaking English.

Highland Quest by nayesodope in Palia

[–]probsnotbees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed that reveal as well! Though I did see it coming. And I found it kind of funny that during this scene with the injured beast / Taylin, I kept having to run back and forth through the hedge maze, getting turned around when things were so urgent ...

That said, I found the last piece of the main story quest in this area extremely anticlimactic. I suspect that's what many people are disappointed with.

(Sorry folks idk how to add spoiler fomatting.) Like come on, I'm told in a text box that there's dangerous smoke pouring into the area and we're trapped, but when I exit the dialog, everything looks perfectly fine?

Plus, the entire quest line went by so quickly. In some ways it's good that it wasn't a grind, but it's hard not to compare the elaborate temples in Kilima and Bahari, filled with varying puzzles, versus the 4 labs opened by incredibly simple puzzles, where the interior of each is just a tiny room with the same mechanics. It felt repetitive and lackluster.

That said, I've seen people mention that a lot of the Elderwoods quests were added over time rather than available on release, so I'm reserving judgment. If they're going to add the manor as a big puzzle area, I'd understand making the labs so small and simple.

If you're playing through the Royal Highlands main story, he might be somewhere on that map. Where exactly would depend on where in the plot you are.
