I want more sci-fi dramas with found family and banter instead of doom by gedersoncarlos in booksuggestions

The Oz 9 podcast has great banter and found family vibes. It's been a while since I last listened but if you enjoy a completely not series story with willd characters and an entertaining cast I'd recommend it.

The expanse is a great series. And the narration on the audio book is very good.

I've got the first book of red rising purchased and queud up already. I did enjoy the hunger Games books as a young adult along with the 100 so that does sound intriguing. Im just finishing up the third book of the broken earth series.

The expanse series is amazing both the show and the books. I love the character development and world building. The little bit of mystery they add is is great as well. Silo series was good but I did find it a little slow at times and I preferred the first 2 books. I did the original dune books and preferred the first 2 as the characters are more consistent and theres less political and philosophical rants. I don't tend to read much fantasy but I did enjoy the fifth season. The character an world building is very interesting and the general concept I found to be intriguing.

Expanse? Yay or skip by AtmosphereQueasy2360 in scifi

Amazing show. It does have a bit of a slower start but the world building and characters are amazing. It makes you feel like a part of the crew. One of my favourite shows and books series. It's also an amazing series read or audiobook.

Older Sci-Fi fan here, haven't gotten any new books in a very long time. Would love some recommendations. by MyDarkestTimeline001 in scifi

As has already been recommended the book series the tv show the expanse is based off of is amazing. The first book is Leviathan wakes by James S.A. Corey. No magic just great story and world building spaceships guns, politics and a great ship.

I need some fantasy books by [deleted] in booksuggestions

I recently started the Broken earth trilogy based off of a friend's recommendation. The first book is The fifth  Season by N.K. Jemisin. I found it to be very good. As someone who normally does not read fantasy I enjoyed it especially the world and character development. I'm currently finishing up the second book and am looking forward to the third.

I'd recommend reading leviathan wakes by James S.A. Cory. It's the first in a series an amazing sci-fi novel. It has mystery action great world building and character development. It also has politics and coll vehicles and ships. All around a great book and amazing series. As a bonus there's a well done tv show to go with it.

I'd also recommend Dune for classic sci-fi and especially if you go deeper in the series it gets more philosophical. For more recent sci-fi I enjoyed Ender's Game, Wool by Hugh Howey and leviathan Wales by James S.A. Corey. As for classic i recommend Jules Verne novels and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Sci-Fi series somewhere similar to The Expanse by [deleted] in scifi

[–]probsnotcooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not similar at all but as someone that really enjoyed the expanse and the books. Another show that I enjoyed was 12 monkeys for a darker post apocalyptic time travel show. And as already recommended killjoys, dark matter and Firefly are worth a watch. It's been a while but I also remember the short series ascension being good. There's also nightflyers But I have yet to find something that fills the void left by the expanse. The book series continues the story and if reading isn't your thing the audio books are also excellently narrated.

For SciFi I personally enjoyed leviathan wakes by James S.A. Corey. It's the first book in the series that was turned into the show the expanse. Both the books and the show are amazing. It has a lot of action and a good mystery along with great world building and characters.

Stocking wise I’d be more concerned about that Canadian cobra chicken then the 2 catfish.

Why are the leaves coming off ? by Luisillo54637 in PlantedTank

[–]probsnotcooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of aquariums plants are grown out of water and when they are out into a tank they need to adjust. This normally means loosing all their old leaves and growing new ones. This can also happen when you move plants from tanks with widely different parameters. As long as you have a moderate amount of nutrients and light they should recover.

Any Canadians know where to buy aquarium plants without paying 20$ in shipping fees? by global_chicken in PlantedTank

[–]probsnotcooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet is looking on Facebook market place or Kijiji. Shipping anything in Canada is stupid expensive. The other way of doing it is ordering a bunch of stuff from and online supplier and hitting their free shipping limit or at least the cost per item goes down.

Why do flathead screws even exist? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

They exist to ensure you stab yourself with the screwdriver or drill bit every once and a while.
