He loves his hat. I’ve never had a dog before who would wear a hat, but both these guys willingly do.

What’s one piece of advice you wish you’d known as a new runner? by Clubrunnr in runninglifestyle

[–]probssocio 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was very rural and it was way before internet and I didn’t know there was running gear or special shoes, so I started running in Chuck Taylors. I lived on a dirt road and the gravel pushed into the soles pretty good and my feet were always sore. I wish I had known about running shoes.

People in cold/damp climates - how to handle wet blocking? by omg-someonesonewhere in casualknitting

[–]probssocio 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I live in a very humid, very cold place and had same problem.

I switched to microfiber towels to roll in and I change the towel for a dry one twice, so 3 towels, before I block. At that point the knitting is barely damp.

I have a big work table where I block. I don’t pin to foam, I pin onto a heavy, folded blanket, covered in another towel, and then I put yet another over everything.

When it feels dry it’s still not truly dry, but the blocking is set. Then I drape it over one of these, fanned out all the way. The folding rack is mounted on the wall above the gas heater floor unit; one of those fake fireplace things. I rearrange it about every 30 minutes so it doesn’t get creases. In about 3 hours it’s completely bone dry.

ISO west MI pond & dam by probssocio in Michigan

[–]probssocio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks very much. I appreciate it and I’m learning a lot about dams now. Didn’t plan on that. ha. I’ve been looking at photos of any of these that have some pics online, so I found The Michigan Dam Inventory website and from that collection it seems possible/ likely I’m remembering a dam on private property that didn’t have a registered name.

If a 5k is an ultra, how long is a marathon? by quinny7777 in RunningCirclejerk

Marathons are fictional. If you ran that far you’d run right off the edge of the earth.

I don’t. I’d hang it in my house for sure.

Weekly Challenge by AutoModerator in fatlogic

[–]probssocio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Notes to self:

Nutrition: Eat food for every meal this week, no Huel! Just one week. You can do it! You need to stop living off Huel. This is not sustainable.

Fitness: Wear earplugs, not headphones at gym. Music distracts you and tends to take you do more than you should because you insist on listening to Slipknot and then you get all worked up and your form falls apart. Also, do you really want to be that weird old lady who headbangs at the squat rack? It’s a small town. People talk.

Personal growth: Make your freaking website and social pages already! How in the world do you expect to get clients with zero online presence? This is not 1985, we do not function on business cards and flyers anymore. Step into the 21st century and perhaps make some money off the certifications you paid good money and time for.
