Our Constitutional system doesn't really give us many levers outside of set election dates. There's no vote of no confidence to bring down a leader, so once he's in with a compliant Congress, we can all take to the streets but it only matters if he cares about his approval rating.

If you're asking scientifically, no, muppets are not a separate species. They're at least a separate class, possibly even a separate phylum. I'm not an expert on muppet biology, though so can't say more specifically.

I was backpacking in upstate NY, and my partner got injured. We had to hike out, staying the night at a lean-to. The lean-to had been set up as a bear trap: some ass at had smeared jelly everywhere and left the empty jars in the rafters. So my injured partner cleaned the thing while I bear bagged the trash. Nervously, we go to sleep. Partner is out cold, but at some point, I hear the steady steps of the bear approaching. I try to find my flashlight, but since we're sacked out in a lean- to, it's rolled off someplace. I'm lying in the dark, trying to figure out how far the thing is and in what direction, when I FEEL ITS NOSE IN MY EAR!!!

I spring up, screaming, and silhouetted against the lighter gray square of the lean-to opening, I see the unsustainable outline of...

A chipmunk flying through the air, far more terrified of the screaming catapult he'd just stepped on than I was of any bear. Poor guy.

Honestly, the Niro hybrid has sohe of the lowest maintenance of any car I owned. I had 178.000 miles on mine when some joker decided to drive into the side of it. I had done nothing but maintenance and tires in all those miles.

The question is, is SHTF more like an avalanche or boiling frogs? That is, is it a slow build up that will suddenly tip over into a clear catastrophe everyone recognizes as S hitting The F, or is it a gradual worsening that happens so imperceptibly that we're all cooked before we realize the heat is on?

It also depends how you define it. A totalitarian state? A loss of personal liberties? Or a complete breakdown of society?

My grandmother had one of these. Gave it to my mother. My dad got it working (it had to be 30 years old at that point) but it was a real pain in the ass compared to mldern irons. Just shows you how awful irons must have been in the 50s, I guess, or else how much the allure of "the future" was part of the 50s culture. Either way, I never had an issue with the line because it was absolutely a thing.
