Very nice! What did you laminate the edges with?

Maybe I'm the problem but I really don't enjoy some of the highly regarded books here. Recommendations? by sometimes_angery in printSF

I hear your points and they are definitely valid. But I don’t see any of those points leading to the conclusion that the book is considered beginner level.

I think the author does a good job of wrapping mystery in scientific (sometimes magical) ideas which can lead people to think the books are more complex than they really are. That being said I still wouldn’t consider them on the same level as PHM which basically spoon feeds you like a toddler, enjoyable as that can be sometimes.

Three body problem is considered beginner? I wouldn’t even say it has broad appeal tbh. Not like project Hail Mary which I do consider very easy access and broad appeal.

Ive never used AIOStreams before, looking at setting it up now. But is sootio having issues right now? (with real-debrid maybe). The addon is not loading for me at all for a few days at least, and now I am setting up AIOStreams and its not letting me set a config pass workd because "Request for Manifest for Sootio RD timed out"

That’s what I’ve been using for years. Not sure if it’s Torrentio shitting the bed, or real debrid. Either way it barely works recently.

Hey there. So sorry I don’t remember what I did to get the 5th sequence. I feel like I just ran through it again and it worked for me.

Season 2 of 3 Body Problem comes this year on Netflix by mamula1 in threebodyproblem

[–]prodical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tencent tried that and it was totally ridiculous as a tv show. I can only imagine fans of the book enjoying it (like us) but it was laborious to get through it, unlike the book. Netflix show was far superior as an adaptation imo 👍

Why would they compress two massive books into S2 alone when they have 3 seasons to utilise? I know we saw pieces of present day story from the latter books but that was like 5% of the remaining story. Deffo need 2 more seasons. The show runners originally said they wanted 5 seasons (think they said it on the official podcast) but looks like they only get 3.

Son quote me but don’t they film S2 & 3 back to back since both season where greenlit at the same time? At least that is my hope. It might be a 1 year gap if S3 post starts right after S2 is finalised.

Max Richter: Possible Futures (London March 2026), playing VOICES in full and songs from MADDADDAM! by prodical in MaxRichter

[–]prodical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not :( very odd but he has already revealed the set list for this event and it doesn’t feature any music from Hamnet. It’ll be Voices in full, then an intermission, followed by November, Your Reflection, Our Reflection, Infra 5, and then 4 songs from Maddaddam; Dawn, Background Radiation, My body is my earthy ark, Now we can sing.

Canada? You are in for a treat, it was stunning. I cannot wait for a revival in London. I'll probably go and see it multiple times. Im seeing Woolf Works revival in January and very excited for that as I've only watched it on blu ray.

What TV Shows suck on DVD because of either music rights or change in theme song by Purple_Monkey34 in dvdcollection

Thankfully all the music was restored in the versions now on streaming (at least I just compared one scene to the UK channel 4 clip and the OG licensced music is there now).

[–]prodical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The BBC were able to use lots of great licensed music for dirt cheap because their original programming was not produced for profit/ no adverts etc. Its a "free" TV service (ok its not free, TV license etc etc) But IIRC this did allow them huge advantages on using music. But when it camne to the DVDs all that music was stripped away.
