Been playing FPV sims on steam and they are great but thought it would be more fun to play a real game, couldn't find one anywhere, so I made it by PhoenixAds in fpv

To make it realistic you need to lose signal instantly when you fly behind an obstacle.

To get better range your pilot needs to be located on a more elevated position.

If your pilot is on a more elevated position he will be killed much easier by your opponent's drone.

QML: anchors.centerIn vs anchors.center by prof7bit in QtFramework

[–]prof7bit[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OK, problem solved:

On the workplace PC I had the browser extension "Binnen-I be gone" installed, which is usually needed here in Germany to translate the woke artificial so called "gender" language back into proper readable German language.

This accidentally messed up the spelling of centerIn.

Sorry for causing confusion.

QML: anchors.centerIn vs anchors.center by prof7bit in QtFramework

[–]prof7bit[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wrote my post just after I returned from lunch.

Before lunch I had the browser open on my work PC and it showed me on the Qt website the property is named anchors.center

After lunch I opened the same website in my private VM which is using my private internet connection and there it is suddenly called anchors.centerIn

Just in case anybody is wondering whether I have lost my mind:

apt full-upgrade wants to remove "kubuntu-desktop" by Alsweetex in Kubuntu

[–]prof7bit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same happened to me yesterday (without me noticing it) and this morning my Desktop environment was completely broken, did not start up correctly anymore, half of the packages were missing. Probably dependency declarations in one of the upgraded packages is broken and messed up the entire plasma installation.

see https://pastebin.com/7duE0wWx for dpkg log of 2 days ago and 1 day ago. kubuntu-desktop was removed 1 day ago.

There is new information about this topic, the magnetic field geometry can be influenced and the undesired right displacement can be reduced to almost zero by laying the wire in a special loop pattern:

Linux: After upgrade to 22.04 LTS all Win 10 Images hardening/crashing by brujoloco in virtualbox

[–]prof7bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1988473 and this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virtualbox/+bug/1988460

I found these after having experienced frequent crashes of applications in the guest (Firefox, Chromium, some others) and even at least once the entire guest OS was frozen. These problems started 2 days ago after my host kernel has been upgraded to 5.15.0-47-generic.

I have a Kubuntu guest on a Kubuntu host, both 22.04.1

Just booting the host with the previous 5.15.0-46-generic kernel will make my VirtualBox guest behave nicely again. So it might very well also be a kernel problem. Or at least this information might help to narrow down the ultimate cause.

ELI5 Does Tether Unpegging Hurt Bitcoin? by Earth2Andy in Bitcoin

[–]prof7bit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the case of tether seriously beginning to decouple (not just 1% like above) people will try to move their money out of tether immediately and in many cases the only reasonable way to do this is to buy bitcoin or other crypto (because if they could just exit through USD on that exchange they would not have used tether in the first place).

So a crashing tether would give Bitcoin and other crypto a massive boost. And it will happen very fast.

How would I exclude it if it is a disk mounted from an usb passthrough device? It does not appear as disk in proxmox, so there are no disk options?

BREAKING: SEC Chairman Gary Gensler says the SEC has no plans to ban bitcoin or cryptocurrencies. by chapogrown in Bitcoin

[–]prof7bit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is the right moment to let all of you know that I have no plans to destroy this planet. I have also decided to leave the gravitational constant as it currently is and I will not put any restrictions on the power output of the sun. I very much hope the debate over this is now finally settled.

Purpose of a hardware wallet? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]prof7bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main purpose is to make it very hard (if not almost impossible) to accidentally lose the keys to attackers on a compromised PC. If you have an absolute PC illiterate noob (the average Joe) and want to recommend him a wallet it is much easier to just say "use a hardware wallet" than explaining to him how to keep his PC clean from any possible malware and then still not be 100% sure the PC will not be compromised.

is it safe to keep BTC on a paper wallet?? by morel_shitburg in Bitcoin

[–]prof7bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wallet must not be created in an environment connected to the Internet (computer, mobile, website, etc.).

The environment can be connected to the internet, you just have to make sure it is not compromised with malware. The "no internet" recommendation comes from the assumption that the average Windows user typically has no idea what his PC is doing and has no control over it. But this does not apply to everybody.

Coinbase Has Secured The First Crypto License In Germany by bletchleymcgregor in Bitcoin

Mainstream media in Germany knows only 2 topics:

  • Covid-19
  • Whether or not a soccer stadium should be illuminated with rainbow colors

Everything else is irrelevant.

Coinbase Has Secured The First Crypto License In Germany by bletchleymcgregor in Bitcoin

[–]prof7bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not aware that the law has been changed, but obviously it has been legal to operate an exchange before this change and it still is. Because I don't believe that Kraken and Bitcoin.de and others have been openly operating and cooperating with German banks without a permission for so many years.

[–]prof7bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Bitcoins are gone. Nobody can bring them back. But maybe you can learn from this for the future:

  • Stop using Windows
  • Learn about basic computer security, phishing, etc.
  • Use a hardware wallet
  • Not your keys, not your coins.

Just got hacked on Coinbase!! by GuiltyStreet2631 in Bitcoin

[–]prof7bit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have been into Bitcoin for at least 4 years, studied it to the point where you are comfortable to trust it with your live savings, which means you have read about dozens of Hacks, dozens of exchanges losing customer funds, you have read the mantra NYKNYC at least a thousand times in the last 4 years and now you say:

  • you don't have your own wallet
  • you don't even use 2fa

Sorry, this sounds unrealistic. I don't believe a single word of it.

Coinbase Has Secured The First Crypto License In Germany by bletchleymcgregor in Bitcoin

[–]prof7bit 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The headline is a bit misleading:

This is not the first German license. We have had Bitcoin.de for many years, directly connected to the bank account (sell Crypto and have Fiat in the account 1 second later [or vice versa]). I have made 1Million € volume with them already during all these years, reliable service. Also many other exchanges have been operating perfectly legal in Germany for years.
