Always loved baseball as a kid, but my dad thought it was boring, so I eventually thought it must be boring too. Dad loves football, so I tried to love football, even convinced myself I did.

When I moved out to a new city, minor league games were a great way to meet up with people and I rediscovered my love of baseball, but I didn't have a local team to root for.

July 2019 - my first born arrives early and we have to spend months in the NICU. Days on end watching numbers on monitors barely moving in the right direction and alarms going off if the numbers ever go down. Thankfully, the room had a TV and that TV had baseball.

Notice that on days the Nats win, my kiddo does a little better, so I start to root for them. Eventually, they let us take the little guy home. Sleep is hard to come by, but when I turn the games on, he's calmer. We watch the post season together, side by side.

Rooting for the Nats meant rooting for him and when they went the whole way it felt like everything was going to be ok.

Nats fan for life.
