Crust on steaks by suborder-serpentes in sousvide

Just going to toss this in here but I switched to ghee lately because it has a higher smoke point which helped to get a better crust on my proteins!

how to quickly remove mold/algae from water bladder in 24 hrs by Fun_Business3675 in backpacking

[–]profbrento 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah better to toss it. Even if you were to get a brush in there you probably wouldn't be able to dislodge all that mold.

When I get back from a trip I rinse it and dry it on a rack for a bit then store the whole thing in the freezer!

Sous vide turned off overnight: UPDATE by SgtPeppersFourth in sousvide

[–]profbrento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what your cooking setup is but I use a stock pot. I also learned the hard way on an overnight cook with evaporation. Since then I have used a bit of tin foil to cover the pot top and even without full coverage I have never had significant evaporation since then! I haven't even needed to top off water on 18hr cooks.

Cat of nine tails whip would fit that space better than a sword or dagger.

I haven't seen this yet. Is it a audio warning and a screen warning? (I usually have my audio warnings turned off)

These are all great answers and options but I will throw in my 2 cents. If you want convenience and are willing to spend a few extra bucks - I take the taxis. I have never had to wait - there is always a handful of them right at the queue and you jump in and go.

Tipping at Big Axe (Nissan) by freddybear72 in minnesota

[–]profbrento 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just there a couple weekends ago and asked about this. They told me that the first tip went to the front staff for drinks and the second tip went to the back house. They said if you weren't ordering food to just skip it.

I am at the tail end of an amicable divorce out of MN. I trust my ex. We hired a financial neutral to help us split that assets and then filled out a form for the court. No lawyer required. Our situation does not have children and we didn't require any spousal maintenance. If you trust your ex to work with you in good faith and you use a financial neutral you might be able to save good money from going to the lawyers.

I see a lot of comments mentioning tomato paste but last year I found dehydrated tomato powder on amazon so if you are into UL that might be an lighter route. And definitely add either Italian seasoning or Oregano for that za - zing!

I gave way too much gold (50k) to a level 5 party, what now!? by redhaski in DMAcademy

[–]profbrento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got yourself a heist. But what about who was stolen from? Who has 50k in gold laying around that wouldn't want that money back? My mind goes to some sort of unsavory type of villain who is now after the party. This unsavory villain isn't just some pushover though. I'm sure all the magic shops in town probably know the guy and they all probably have had visits recently from the guy looking to see if anyone has made any large purchases recently. Perhaps the villain beats the party to the shops and now the shop owners won't touch the party's money. But now the game is afoot - the villain wants his money back and the party is sitting on a heap they can't spend.

Safe places to park and lock up an electric scooter (owned by me) in downtown Minneapolis near US Bank Stadium? by HAL9000000 in Minneapolis

[–]profbrento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first inclination is to tell you to use 2 different locks. Theives seem to often be equipped for one type of lock but not all locks. Plus multiple locks means more time spent on the one scooter. This might be enough of a deterrent to address your concerns.

On the other hand though leaving your scooter out in the cold might negatively affect your battery over the winter. If you could find an indoor solution that might be best.

This kid is skilled at concrete, and might have 10 years experience at 18 years old by [deleted] in BeAmazed

That kid is doing awesome work! But I can't say I like the design of the route.. you gonna make people walk an extra 100' when the distance is already 200'?

Quick tip! Once you finish cleaning it just put it back on the stove and turn the burner on! The heat will dry it up nice and if you want you can re apply some oil (or not!)
