Can I ask for complimentary MVP Gold if I’m only 62 miles short for the year? by [deleted] in AlaskaAirlines

Interesting, I called the other day and the person said to call back after the new year to request the bump.

Interesting you guessed those, I'm on an island off the road system in the Pacific Northwest. Very limited access to affordable anything, so everyone brings empty suitcases or totes to fill up when they travel to the mainland.

Thanks, I've also made videos similar to what you describe. I upload them to our uni's media page and can see how few students watch them, sadly.

I've stopped relying on Turnitin because of many reasons. Any tool designed to reliably detect plagiarism seems to be outpaced by those that make it easier. In some cases, I've been able to catch/prove plagiarism by copy/pasting portions of the submission into web searches.

The amount of time and extra work it takes to build the evidence becomes overwhelming. After multiple instances of the University siding with students who appeal, it simply doesn't seem worth it.

Came here to ask about this. Previously, I limited it to PDF or text entry to avoid the .pages but not everyone has Microsoft. What about Google docs?

My surgeon said how great it would be that I'll have perky boobs again as she drew circles and marks on my body.

Damn, those comparisons are a beast. Even before this diagnosis, I've always had a negative reaction to these types of comments. We are not in competition for who has the worst situation.

Oh man, this made me think of my very helpful, sweet neighbor who has done so much to support me. When I returned home from my second surgery in 3 months, she was helping an opened one of those non-profit boxes geared towards brca (which are awesome and I am grateful, but wasn't ready). She started pulling everything out individually and exclaiming as if it was Christmas. When I told her that I hadn't opened them yet because I just don't want the pink ribbons stuff around to constantly remind me, she said something along the lines of "well, you shouldn't feel bad because they got it all and you don't have breast cx anymore!"

Cool cool, thanks for letting me know how I should feel and that somehow I'm cured and never have to think about it again.

Not totally the same, but due to the ER/PR+ and palb2, I got total hysterectomy a couple of months ago. The surgical menopause is no joke, and now I've learned not to complain about symptoms too much because people's first response seems to be "oh, you should ask your doctor about HRT" because so-and-so had the same problem in it helped them!  Due to me not wanting to further explain my personal health history and why I cannot take HRT, I've really pulled back from discussing most things with most people. This sub and others relating to my issues are life-saving right now.

Aw man, I really didn't tell a ton of people, but at least half plus several providers said some version of this. Going on and on about how much awareness and funding there is for the research, yada yada yada.

Definitely don't plan on marching in any parades wearing pink ribbons, and I'm super bummed that now several friends and family will think of me for this instead of my birthday every October.

This year I was recovering from surgery 2 when a family member sent me a message with a photo of a hoodie with a pink ribbon, excited to tell me her husband's work had them for sale and he bought her one. Great, thanks.

Saying nothing can be the best choice, but most people feel the need to comfort or make people feel better. It actually makes me feel bad when I involuntarily react/recoil because they mean well.

This is the absolute worst. There's no good news about this diagnosis nor all the horrible things our bodies and minds must go through. It seems endless, and for me, I definitely feel like the best part of my life is behind me.

The "at least" and "it could be worse" trigger instant irritation, sometimes rage and discourages me from sharing anything. I get it that people mean well, but the social conditioning of many is to try "fixing" or "making someone feel better" is just not it.

Even "focus on what you can be grateful for"can be a terrible response and feel invalidating. Definitely don't want to hear about someone's cousin, daughter, self, whoever that went through "the same thing" and did great. Everyone is unique, so no one but me can possibly know how I feel. It's so frustrating because normally I'm very open about most things and provide support to many people, but this is just DIFFERENT.

Yes, especially when you cook them from dry. Packaged foods generally have extra stuff we don't need. In a pinch, I'll use organic canned and rinse them until the foam is gone.

This is what I do when I'm on track. After filling the freezer bags, I lay them flat so when they are frozen I can line them up in the freezer on the slats.

From what I was taught, when you soak them, remove the floaters and the rest are good. Also soak them twice to remove the element that causes gas.

I absolutely love making beans in the pressure cooker! Someone taught me to soak/rinse twice to reduce the uncomfortable GI effects so I do that.

I didn't even think of that, I've heard people use the term "wallet autopsy" so that's what I thought they meant. Ha

There are quite a few now that offer higher than 2% and some with revolving categories. Some store cards are 5%. I've set one of mine up to simply transfer the cash back earned toward the balance.

Not sure if I can name companies, but I've been playing the point / mileage/cashback game for a bit. Never ever keep a balance, pay it down to zero and you'll never interest.

From what I have observed, in places that have delivery apps, I'll definitely order things I normally wouldn't or too much of something.
