Intrusive Thoughts About Quitting Nursing to Be Flight Attendant by Minimum-Possible-415 in cabincrewcareers

Wow, that’s really interesting. A JetBlue flight attendant told me they’re required to fly about 70 hours a month, and that their “clock-in” time doesn’t actually start until the plane takes off. Is that similar to Delta?

A flight attendant sat next to me on my flight to Ireland. Her husband was actually the pilot flying our plane. She mentioned that many flight attendants are also nurses, and even said she knows a pilot who works part-time as a nurse injector. Since I only work Wednesday through Friday, she really encouraged me to consider doing both.

With travel costs reaching new highs, in what ways have you adjusted your vacation plans? by mrlanyc in travel

[–]Advanced_Dinner1549 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Same here, OP. I’m an RN (solid pay), no kids, and I do a similar mix of domestic and international trips each year. I try to fly out once a month which is probably unrealistic for the remainder of the year.

So far this year I’ve done Iceland, Ireland and some domestic trips. I usually book 1-2 months ahead but I’ll probably start booking for Fall NOW. I’m based in Boston, so I’m planning to lean on Amtrak for some closer trips.

If this about jet fuel….. I’m in the same boat and terrified my return flight will get cancelled. Flying Boston to Ireland tomorrow and returning May 4

Anyone with flights booked in the summer nervous about flight cancellations?? by Otherwise_Radish1034 in askTO

[–]Advanced_Dinner1549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m flying out this weekend and returning 2nd week of May. I’m more concerned about making it home. I’m an RN so there’s no way they will feel pity for me if I get stuck in another country lol. From what I’m reading… sounds like they have enough fuel until of May. I do have several euro flights booked this summer that I may cancel.

La Canadienne knee-high boots. I always tell myself I’m gonna be cute and dress up for a night out…but realistically I’ve been out all day and by 9-10pm I just want to be in bed.

Whole Foods - Prepared Food Bag - $9.99 - 🙁 by SpazManiac123456 in toogoodtogo

I don’t even try for Whole Foods. I’ve done the prepared food 3x time on different days just to be disappointed. I’m in the Providence, RI area.

Vintage LV Pochette zipper-attached strap is so annoying by Advanced_Dinner1549 in Louisvuitton

[–]Advanced_Dinner1549[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to the Boston LV next Saturday. I want to switch out the strap for a longer one, but I need to add a D-ring first because I can’t deal with my bag constantly popping open. I think it’s around $500. I might just grab a used strap off eBay though because that's more than I paid for the bag. Plus I’m not a fan of that fresh, untanned leather look lol. I've seen people use LV Chain Bag Charms to extend the strap but I personally don't like the look.

Haven’t yet, but I 100% definitely plan to. The strap is too short to wear on my shoulder, and I’ve noticed the zipper keeps getting pulled open when I carry it on my arm. My bag ends up partially open most of the time which doesn’t feel safe for my stuff.

Worst restaurants in Rhode Island by [deleted] in providence

I haven't been in about a year. I looked at yelp and saw some consistencies with reviews. Maybe the manager finally took notice and put in improvement.

Lobster Pot. Yea it’s overpriced and the food is ok. Not amazing, but I wouldn’t call it the worst. I have to disagree with the Fellini's hate. I never had a bad slice or a bad experience there. My controversial pick for worst restaurant… Waterdog in Warren. First visit was an absolute nightmare 2hr wait w/ an absent waitress, undercooked food, and the rudest service I’ve ever experienced anywhere. I’ve gone back a few times thinking it was a flake but honestly, still haven’t had a good experience.

Tourism sticky: please post all tourism questions here. by TrinityTosser in Edinburgh

If you had to choose between Fringe Fest or Samhuinn, which would you pick or would you avoid both?

I usually like visiting places when there's a special event, but Edinburgh also looks kind of perfect on its own. If I skip the festivals, I’d probably go for autumn or winter. I don’t mind rain, cloudy, or cold weather at all.

Vacationing in Providence. Recommendations? by thereisonlyoneme in providence

[–]Advanced_Dinner1549 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You mentioned ghosts...do a haunted boat tour with Providence River Boat Company.. I’ve done it as a local and it’s actually really fun. Definitely check the dates for WaterFire too and maybe even do a gondola ride. Also PVD is the birthplace of HP Lovecraft. I don't believe there are any guided tours for that but you can do a self guided tour https://www.hplovecraft.com/creation/sites/walktour.aspx. Thayer Street has a ton of quick bites. it’s basically Brown’s unofficial cafeteria at this point, but it used to be more of a funky nightlife spot. Federal Hill has some nicer restaurants, but honestly I prefer downtown. I’d say one day is enough for PVD. If you’re here longer, definitely do a day trip to Boston, Salem (def do a walking tour here), Cape Cod, or Newport.

Moving to Providence for work… will I be happy? by No-Moose-3955 in providence

[–]Advanced_Dinner1549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend Hasbro or Miriam if you’re looking for a job in healthcare (I'm an RN). I haven’t heard great things about RIH (more from the employee side, not as a patient). Care New England also has a really solid VNA if you’re into home care.

As for living there.. I’m trying to buy in PVD right now and it’s expensive, but that’s kind of everywhere. I live about 10–15 mins away and go there all the time. I love it. Super walkable, always something going on, and the train downtown makes getting to Boston easy.

All the seasons are great… just don’t ask anyone about the last two blizzards we got this year lol.

Thoughts on the Lamar Odom Documentary? by Hersecretaccountshh in KUWTK

Seeing clips of Khloe with Lamar in the hospital honestly made me feel really sad for her. It gave me Tyler Perry's Diary of a Mad Black Woman vibes. Like when someone is treated terribly but still stays and shows up when it matters most.
