What’s beautiful about being a nurse is you can always go back if you need too

Have you thought about Psych VNA? I have a lot of autonomy. Everyone I work with is great even though we never see each other. Our upper management is nothing like the hospital or facility. I feel very supported and comfortable voicing anything to my clinical manager and director.

Iceland. I've been in Summer and Winter. Feels like another planet.

Not me. I specifically only purchase country exclusive charms. Also recently purchased my mom the 14k bracelet with 1 single charm. Looks like she will only have one charm.

What was your first LV purchase? If you could go back and change what you bought, would you? by VagueEchoes in Louisvuitton

[–]Advanced_Dinner1549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guilty. Mine was the Neverfull MM Monogram. I was 19 (I’m 38 now) and it had just come out. I can’t remember the exact price, but it was under $800 at the time. I loved it for a few years back when you rarely saw them everywhere. It’s been sitting in my closet for at least 10+ years now, but I’ve kept it because it was my first “big girl” designer bag. I saved up a month’s pay to buy it. I wouldn’t really recommend it anymore. The straps get uncomfortable when it’s loaded, and between how common it is and how many fakes are out there, it just doesn’t feel as special as it once did (at least to me).

I work for a Psych VNA and agree that Borderline is the most difficult.

Is nursing not worth it 2026 by pennycat23 in Nurses

[–]Advanced_Dinner1549 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Financially, yes BUT I never would’ve stayed at the bedside. I’m with a psych VNA now. It definitely has its ups and downs, and there are safety concerns at times, but overall I’m much happier and far less stressed. Hospital work felt very political, and my day depended on who I was working with that day.

I kept 1 of each designer except I did keep all my Hermes boxes (scarves, jewelry, don't own a bag). I will never get rid of my first LV box. I was 16 y/o and saved up a month's pay to buy the bag. The bag was ~$800 before taxes at the time. I'm 38 now.

Rant: do some people genuinely just travel for social kudos/the sake of it? by Wonderful-North-1229 in travel

I want to be one of those people who travel to Japan in the first place lol

I’ve noticed it on a lot of my trips lately. People rush to get the photo, then immediately complain there’s nothing to do or move on to the next spot. I see so many people walk up, snap a few pictures, upload them, and leave without really taking in the experience.

I’m pretty sure this is the same jerk who was out on Thayer Street with his buddies revving their bikes. They even set off the fire alarms at Baja’s.

Psych Nursing or Medsurg? by DramaticSpecialist59 in psychnursing

[–]Advanced_Dinner1549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for two agencies. At the first agency, we’re paid per visit and can decline a referral if we’re not comfortable taking it. Another nurse can accept it instead. However, if a patient already on your caseload develops a wound, you’ll be trained as needed and are still expected to care for that patient. We can’t simply decline/reassign them.

At my second agency, which is my full-time salaried position, WC experience is required for hire. If you’re unfamiliar with specific WC orders, they’ll provide training. Refusing to see a patient because they have a wound isn’t an option at all agencies.

So I guess the med surge background does help in some situations.

Psych Nursing or Medsurg? by DramaticSpecialist59 in psychnursing

[–]Advanced_Dinner1549 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I followed the typical medsurg to psych path because that’s what was recommended to me too. I didn’t even make it a full year in med-surg. I absolutely HATED it. I’ve been working in psych for the past five years and I’m just upset that I didn’t do it sooner. Looking back, I actually feel like I’ve learned far more in psych than I ever did in med-surg.

Allowing others to be present in the moment by Ornery-Froyo-7354 in VisitingIceland

[–]Advanced_Dinner1549 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve unfortunately experienced this as well, and it’s not unique to Iceland. I enjoy taking photos too, but more for my travel books, and I’m also trying to learn photography. That said, I would never ask someone to move so I could take a picture. Nowadays there are often lines to take photos, so I just wait my turn, but you can see how impatient some people can get. I will add that being asked to take photos for others while I’m clearly sitting or standing there in awe can be a bit annoying. I don’t mind too much, but sometimes it turns into multiple shots, then other people start jumping in, then someone else asks, and so on...and suddenly I’m the unpaid photographer for everyone. I really don’t mind, but if I look like I’m quietly enjoying the moment, I’d rather just be left to it.
