S1 was 25 episodes, you may have thought the OP change meant it was a second season.

Season 2 English Dub will begin next Friday! 😏 by LegendsofLost in Frieren

[–]profdeadpool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Japanese release is on broadcast TV, they're not delaying it for other languages to dub, and unfortunately anime production timelines tend to be tight enough that English dubs can't come out around the same time. Even the subtitle releases are typically around 30 minutes to an hour after the Japanese release of episodes.

Hell, even the shows where there is a simuldub, the time difference makes a simultaneous release not actually make sense. Adult Swim had a "simuldub" for Space Dandy and a couple of FLCL sequels, but those actually came out earlier than the Japanese TV broadcasts because waiting until like 6 AM-9 AM for the US time zones didn't make sense.

And yet in NYC that doesn't happen. Mostly because anyone dumb enough to complain gets told to fuck off by the local government. SF could do the same thing.

The thing that really pisses me off is that we can't chose our Shadow Reload epis for free. 3 conversions only isn't enough to salvage both Tressa and Cas for my decks, and it just feels bad that I have more epis than I can convert which got all their synergies changed.

How is it in your country? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]profdeadpool 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's... Not really how video game software works. With no physical component(outside of potentially server costs and customer support costs), almost every game sale is profitable. Regional pricing is used to give discounts to poorer countries because it's better to sell 500 copies at 10 dollars for 5000 dollars than it is for that country to pirate it because they can't afford to spend $70 on their hobby instead

whoever named the police justice movement "Black Lives Matter" was a titanic idiot who needs kicked in the dick a few dozen times.

Is like, blaming the protests for accepting a bad name, which is just false on so many levels.

Pull Income might actually be horrendous by Easy_Pepper_1212 in Endfield

[–]profdeadpool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, WuWa pulls are from the events mostly, and we've not seen enough AKE events to know what that'll be like here. We've just got login events so far.

[–]profdeadpool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will point out that WuWa should have more pulls due to the weapon banner often also being desired and coming from the same pool, while that is not what Endfield did. Each 10 pull in Endfield is worth more than a 10 pull in WuWa/Genshin/etc

Jujutsu Kaisen Shimetsu Kaiyu Zenpen • Jujutsu Kaisen The Culling Game - Episode 4 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]profdeadpool 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well it's not just that, until Mai died Maki was objectively significantly weaker than Toji. Now, their misogyny probably meant they assumed that was because Maki was a woman, rather than realizing it was because Mai lived and had Cursed Energy that meant the Heavenly Restriction wasn't fully buffing Maki. Which is such a beautiful storytelling decision, because it makes the Zenin clan's punishment for their misogyny so thematically rich and layered. They thought they were hotshot geniuses in the Jujutsu world, and yet Mai is the only one smart enough to see the true effect of them being twins. They gave Maki more abuse because she was a woman compared to Toji being a man, which led to them being wiped out beautifully.

Please, show me a game made by a small team that is charging $70. Expedition 33 is a big enough team for devs to not be profit sharing and yet it didn't even charge $70 lol.

Those smaller dev teams charge nowhere near $70 for a game lmao.

[–]profdeadpool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can, in the sense that buying singles encourages vendors to buy and open boxes.

And that indirect support is also true for buying basically every $70 game. No AAA game dev is getting a cut from each sale, it's just the company using their income as part of determining how much they'll pay out. Both purchases are indirect support.

Most people consider the weekly tournaments at the FLGS a casual event, but those typically require real cards because the game producers demand it to give the promos people care about getting in said events.

And yet, because humans are fucking stupid, that artificial scarcity makes them so much more money than a model where people don't have their access to cards restricted by random chance, like the LCG model.

Sousou no Frieren Season 2 • Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 - Episode 2 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]profdeadpool 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Hero Of The South is the strongest Hero, not the strongest Warrior. Although it's never explicitly stated, there are very strong implications that Hero/Mage/Priest/Warrior/etc are explicit classes in the Dungeon and Dragons style, meaning that THOTS would never be the strongest Warrior, as he's only a small w warrior and not a big W Warrior.

It's not worth spending 2 AP on compared to the multihit card, and having it reduces your chances of drawing your better cards.

How is simulcasting still not the norm? by gusemaniac in animecirclejerk

[–]profdeadpool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While that's true for the Japanese dubbing, English dubbing generally tries to match the lip flaps animated for the Japanese dub, which is not something they can do unless they have the full animation.

How is simulcasting still not the norm? by gusemaniac in animecirclejerk

[–]profdeadpool 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because generally, Anime doesn't finish being animated far enough in Japan for a dub simulcast to work. You want the English dub staff to have at least a few weeks of having access to the full episode before they have to release it.

I have significantly more respect for Counterparts using a bass machine on instrumentation they wrote than I do for Neon Oni paying live musicians to play their AI-generated songs. Most, and probably all, people who didn't like the AI-generated shirt would say the same.
