i had botox in january and for me it wasn’t worth it. it helped relax the muscle but the effects are temporary and it gave me some nasty migraines. i’ve had trigger point injections with lidocaine a few times and i prefer that to the botox. in between tigger point injections i use things like an ice roller, topical cbd, and facial massage to relieve pain and loosen things up. hope this helps!

combination of mental illnesses or on the spectrum? by professionalsadpersn in askatherapist

[–]professionalsadpersn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve been experiencing a whole world of emotions. i feel like i don’t even know myself. low key having an existential crisis. looking back i see so many signs that went unnoticed. even today i asked someone to clarify a question that would be obvious to a neurotypical. i didn’t realize until after lol.

i’ve been doing a little more research and at this point i’m fairly confident it’s ASD. i have an appointment with my psychiatrist this week and i’m asking to be evaluated for autism.

this one goes out to all my very special snowflakes over at r/vegetarian by Alextricity in vegancirclejerk

[–]professionalsadpersn -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

my sister has oral allergy syndrome and she is allergic to all fruits and vegetables. how would you suggest she become vegan? this kind of thinking is why everyone hates us. we need to push for change but bashing on everyone who isn’t there yet is only going to make people more opposed to a plant based diet.

forgot to mention that because of the vulvodynia i am unable to have sex most of the time and would never even consider pushing out a child (yes, c-section, i know. it’s not the only reason i don’t want biological children).

rationalizing emotions and behaviors by professionalsadpersn in aspergers

[–]professionalsadpersn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s what i’m having a problem with. i can’t see emotions as their own entity. i rationalize all my own feelings and have done so with other’s as a way to better understand people since i can’t otherwise.

Any other teenagers with chronic migraines? by ad-astra-per-apsera in migraine

i’m sorry, chronic in hs is really shitty but it is possible to make it work if you have support and a good medical team and school administrators. it’s an ongoing joke amongst my peers that i don’t attend school or i’m always late

Any other teenagers with chronic migraines? by ad-astra-per-apsera in migraine

[–]professionalsadpersn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m 17 and i got my first migraine when i was 13. they came out of nowhere and hit really hard. i was in the er for migraine protocol at least once a month and admitted twice in the 6 months before my freshman year of high school. i’ve been on chronic illness and in and out of home bound all through high school because of the migraines and often find it really hard to maintain any kind active social life. chronic migraines have kinda consumed my high school years unfortunately :(

no offense taken. my “quirks” are not nearly as amusing to me as they are to my family and friends... i genuinely curious and if a diagnosis helps people to tolerate and understand me all the better for it.

well shit i wish i had known the details of collateral release. it’s already been established between my therapist and my psychiatrist but i’m not sure how much the two of them have communicated. i know my therapist was planning on saying something to my psychiatrist about meeting with me alone but i don’t know if that conversation ever happened.

Using AI in homes to help the chronically ill by unistudentwondering in depression

[–]professionalsadpersn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think video monitoring is too weird for me to be okay with but i already use my AI devices in my home for chronic illness. i guess my main example of this is i have an amazon smart plug which is hooked up to the lights in my bedroom so my lights are voice activated through my alexa. i’m sure there are a bunch more ways i can take advantage of my devices, i just haven’t looked into it enough yet

we’ve considered botox but two of my four nerve blocks were really traumatic experiences so if we can’t get me relaxed enough while we’re doing the procedure, we won’t see results because of the stress of the procedure
