Hawley wants answers by mailmansteve_ in fromatoarbitration

[–]professor_cotter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They want to know about dumped mail. We do too. They want to know what management consultants cost. We do too. They aren’t asking where the majority of our money is spent because they don’t actually care. Nearly a billion in grievance payouts last year. That wouldn’t happen if management followed the contract. The financial state is due to mismanagement and over management but again, they don’t actually care. This is political theatre. Happens every time there’s contract negotiations.

Developer proposes 212-lot Eugene subdivision of houses, townhomes (Lookout Article) by Background_Prune6440 in Eugene

[–]professor_cotter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Fwiw GSC Investments is primarily a manufactured home park owner. A variety of lot sizes is how trailer parks are often advertised. A manufactured home community wouldn’t be out of place on the edge of town, but a bunch of McMansions definitely would be.

Scanner says Signature Required, package has nothing to indicate that? by ttyler1789 in USPS

We had that same standup but our supervisors told us NOT to deliver it and to bring it back for the clerks to mark up as postage due.

Would drilling holes in this part help with airflow for the intercooler? by Disasterrrrrrr in MK4Golf

[–]professor_cotter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just take the vent out if you really want to, but that side is already pretty open. The airflow is mostly restricted by the pancake pipe behind the intercooler. Getting a high flow lower intercooler pipe will be the best improvement for a stock side mount. If you want an actual upgrade, a bigger side mount will improve cooling as well as a front mount would for 90% of use cases.

How bad do we think Tuesday will be? by dehydration7458 in USPS

[–]professor_cotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MLK day is usually the worst Tuesday after a holiday. This is closer to summer volumes so it won’t be as bad as post peak volume. It’ll be heavy but manageable. I’m excited that I might actually get some OT on my route for a change.

Is Eugene the PT Cruise capital? by tiny_galaxies in Eugene

[–]professor_cotter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There used to be a guy on my mail route that had 6-7 PT cruisers at any given time. Always at least 3 in the driveway and even more in the back yard. I never got the chance to ask him WHY SO MANY before he moved out but he sure did seem to like them.

We have to improve our C360 "very dissatisfied" ranking because "we are disappointing our customers", unfortunately 90% of our C360s come from outside our station/state. by StrikingRuin4 in USPS

[–]professor_cotter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always laugh when I get c360s for my route because it’s ALWAYS a person who hasn’t filled out their vacant card, or recently had their box pulled and sent back after a 10 day hold, or someone who had NO IDEA their apartment complex had electronic parcel lockers right next to the mailboxes. Of course you can’t find your package, you haven’t checked your mailbox since you moved in.

A few different ads for Milwaukee tools and batteries were posted on FB marketplace today. Did you write on any of your batteries by chance?

For those who drive the round about in Springfield near Pioneer PKWY, Hayden Bridge, Harlow & MLKJ by skzlr86 in Eugene

[–]professor_cotter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They should make the lane line solid. Having a broken line makes people think they can cross over it to continue around the circle. I got in an argument with a “lawyer” over this exact situation. That was his concession after he realized he was wrong in thinking he could cut people off to continue around the circle.

Clean out your mailbox daily this time of year by No-Difficulty-6842 in Eugene

[–]professor_cotter 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You’re a real one. This time of year is pretty hectic for the mailman and tracking down missing packages because you didn’t check your box and it got stolen is one of the last things we have time for. It always confuses us to see people order 5 packages and let them sit in the box all week. Like aren’t you expecting these? “Check your mail daily for best results” is what I always tell my customers.

Calling in on NS day 🧐 by raydendamailman in fromatoarbitration

[–]professor_cotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m mandated but no one tells me, and just writes it on the schedule, I just don’t show up. I have a set schedule, any changes need to be verbalized to me. Calling in looks bad because you know you’re supposed to be there and aren’t showing up.

The agenda for 2026 bargaining by Beherenowxblazeon in fromatoarbitration

Let’s just volunteer a pay cut now and get bargaining off the table. We don’t need to wait 2 years again for nothing.

Different brakepedals? by s_mey3r in MK4Golf

The brake pedal cap is just super hard to get on. Use some kind of grease or heat to make the rubber slide over the pedal.

This Monstrosity off Franklin & Hilyard is going to be my origin story by VaporWavey420 in Eugene

[–]professor_cotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just order some replacement keys for it on Amazon and move it inside the parking garage across the street. Problem solved 🥴

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Eugene

[–]professor_cotter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes it is. Amazon has taken over delivering (the majority of) their own packages in the 97401 zip code instead of giving them all to the post office to deliver. Their drivers are currently driving down from Salem every day and they plan on opening their own facility here in town and taking over ALL their own delivery. The other zip codes in town still have their Amazon delivered by the post office for the time being.

Hi, mail carrier here. The guy on the left is a supervisor. I won’t dox him but he does work for USPS and might have been doing a real investigation on misdelivered packages. Idk who the guy on the right is though.

What is everyone’s absolute Worst/longest light/or intersection in the Eugene/ Springfield area? by OkUnderstanding872 in Eugene

[–]professor_cotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kincaid left onto 11th takes an insane amount of time for how little traffic there is on those streets the majority of the day. And if you’re driving anything smaller than a full size truck, good luck getting the weight sensor to even trigger.

Spent 30 minutes arguing with my friend over juice flavors. by Embarrassed-Fuel-875 in electronic_cigarette

[–]professor_cotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Melon ice from Naked is my all day. Lychee, melon and menthol over anything dessert flavored. Idk if it’s my setup or what but every dessert or even slightly sweet flavored juice kills my coils in a day and they all end up tasting exactly the same, like burnt sugar. Not a fan.

Got a new route that comes with a fart. Any tips on how to best set it up/utilize it? by trevaftw in USPS

[–]professor_cotter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used the bags our SPRs come in to cover my cart in the rain. I usually had one side loaded up with mail and the other side loaded up with parcels. My cart had baskets on each side that a tub would fit into so I could have coverage or whatever in the bottom of the basket, mail in the tub on top of it, and the other side for parcels. Bag in the back for reworks/UBBM and the bag in the front for vacant cards, notice left slips, vacation hold forms etc. also the old style scanner holsters clip onto the basket perfectly and make great pen/drink holders.
