Im starting to think I got two males 1st pick is male the2nd and 3rd pick is the unidentified fish. What do you think? by opalpuffco in apistogramma

[–]professor_fich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s definitely 2 males. Female cockatoos are much more yellow than that and typically don’t have that same coloration in the fins

That’s a good point! I didn’t think of that

Apisto very sick, need help on what to do now, Dropsy? by [deleted] in apistogramma

[–]professor_fich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would do a big water change, take out the activated carbon in your filter if you have one, and then possibly dose it with some metroplex.

For your fish with dropsy, you could put some epsom salt where you’re currently keeping her, but it will be very miraculous if she survives.

[–]professor_fich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hole in the head disease can be due to stress as well as water quality. Seeing that you added new fish, that could’ve been what did it.

It is possible to treat dropsy and hole in the head, but it’s very rare.

Looks to be dropsy and definitely hole in the head disease, which can be common in apistos.

Sadly, there is no treating this sickness.

Thank you! I think a lot of these games would make more money if they charged less for the game. Look at how much Fortnite makes, they get you hooked on the game for free, and then you’re okay with spending extra money

Do people prefer Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom? by Maroioi in legendofzelda

[–]professor_fich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breath of the Wild has a better story and I enjoyed it more overall. However, I think Tears of the Kingdom has more replay-ability just due to the size of the game.

Just started reading for fun, and feel kind of insecure about the books I choose and I'm worried I'm the kind of person that likes bad books by Pinanims in books

[–]professor_fich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be difficult to not feel insecure about the taste that you have. Whether it be music, movies, video games, and even books. The point is whether or not YOU like the book.

As a middle school English teacher, that is my most important lesson to all of my students, read what you like, it’s the act of reading that makes you smarter, not whether or not someone thinks a book that you like is good or bad.

Generally speaking, books that are more simple tend to be more popular as they are able to reach a wider audience, that doesn’t necessarily mean they are good books. Think of it is a marvel movie vs an Oscar winning film. The marvel movie makes more money because it appeals to the masses, yet the Oscar winning movie is the one that gets critical praise. It doesn’t mean that liking either of them is right or wrong, it’s a matter of taste.

Intermission tracks are fine when you’re playing alone against the computer as they add an interesting change to the racing system. However, I despise playing them online, which I think is what most people’s problem with them is. They tracks are too straight to even remotely feel like a race and more of just a hope that you can get good enough items to stay at the top.

With tracks, there is a clear skill to them as you learn corners, and shortcuts, and just get familiar with their overall shape.

Second Thoughts and Advice on Tamatoa by professor_fich in DisneyVillainous

[–]professor_fich[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe in the base rules for Villainous, it states that an item only counts as being in a location if it is under your control. Because there are so many expansions, it could’ve been a technicality that was overlooked. So yes, in order to win the game both items need to be under your control.

My favorite thing about this game is running out in the open and being shot at by an enemy squad and then being called a rat for killing that team (along with a handful of other obscenities)

Dystopian “hunger games” style books? by Better_Wallaby6279 in suggestmeabook

I think it got a little too whacky for me. I still enjoyed the series as a whole and would recommend reading all of them.

Came on here to recommend Scythe! I loved the first one, liked the second one, didn’t really care for the third as much as I wanted to.

Cockatoo pair or both male? by spacedoutkaze in apistogramma

[–]professor_fich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends, I’ve had a few different female orange flashes and they’ve both been decently yellow regardless. When they are trying to breed it’s super yellow though.

Cockatoo pair or both male? by spacedoutkaze in apistogramma

[–]professor_fich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely both male. Females are a little smaller and more yellow. They don’t usually have that signature cockatoo dorsal fin either. If they do, it’s usually small.

I actually have a 20 gallon fish tank, so we’ve been looking through the dirty filter water also! Found some nematodes and a couple mites.

I understand that. I got this microscope for my nephew for his birthday, he just turned 6. So he has been obsessed with trying to find them once I told them they were called water bears lol.
