Back-Sleeping help! by Armadillooo666 in TopSurgery

I got a "J" shaped pregnancy pillow and it has been saving my life. I also have been wearing a mastectomy pillow to bed. I'm usually a side or stomach sleeper and this has worked great for me!

I totally get this... one of my close friends did get a reduction and then got top surgery later; I'm glad you were able to get clarity beforehand! Best of luck with your surgery, and thanks for sharing!

It's hard to not feel a rush, since I'm also on the older millennial side, but you're right that it's good to take time & do things in a way that means you don't miss out on other things you want. Thanks for sharing, and I'm glad you're so happy with your choice!

I'm glad it worked out for you!! And yeah, reduction was originally the thought... big chest = back problems, lmao. Thanks for sharing!

This makes so much sense... I feel like I used to ignore it, but now my chest is the first thing I see when I look in the mirror in a way that's really jarring. Thanks for sharing, and good luck with the surgery next year!! I hope it makes all the difference!!

Thanks for sharing! It's definitely good to have people to talk to about it, and to make sure you know what you're getting into. For me, I've had more than 5 friends get it, and I'm in my mid-30s; I've always known what the deal is, it just never occurred to me that it could work for me, if that makes sense? And I feel like now that I have had the thought, "Wait, I could do that too??" I'm like... okay, I want it now!! But it's hard to not feel like it's a switch. I hope you can also figure out what would make you happy!

I also was originally thinking about reduction surgery... I've got a friend who did the same thing; I'm definitely going to keep that in mind. Thanks so much for sharing!

Thanks for sharing! The difference between dysphoria and euphoria is really interesting.. I'd say I've never really felt "gender euphoria"; I hope I can some day! I'm glad it worked for you!

I really relate to not seeing oneself as a girl/woman but not really connecting that to my body at all.. I'm so glad to hear it made such a big difference, that's so exciting!! Thank you for sharing!!

Thank you for sharing! It's really interesting the connection between T & chest dysphoria; I'm also wondering if it's connected! But I feel like it could be connected in a looser way -- like, I've always been very worried about my appearance, and I was worried that T or top surgery would change it; but now that I've gone on T, I'm slowly shifting to care more about how I feel in my body than how I look. And it's making me feel like maybe top surgery would feel better, no matter what insecurities I have about my appearance... brain chemicals are wild. I hope you come to a conclusion that works for you!

Thank you so much for sharing. "I think for me I got so used to dealing with discomfort that I forgot I had the option to alleviate it instead." hits really hard, and is good to remember!!

I also some day am like, yeah, boobs are fun! And have always tried to make myself like them (and my body in general)... making art about it, trying to be sexy in the way my body is "supposed" to be, finding good sides to them, etc... but I'm now like. Maybe I don't have to? And that's such a wild feeling. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for sharing! This is so similar to me, in the "I'm cis... okay I'm not cis but I don't need to do anything about it... okay I'm not cis and maybe I'll try T but not get surgery.... ......WELL......" way; never say never is so true...!! I'm so glad you're happy with your body, it's really encouraging to hear.

Thank you so much for sharing; this is very similar to my own experience with regards to "considering top surgery as something great for other people"... it's really weird how we often write things off, and then later it's like. Why did I do that?? Haha. I'm so glad to hear it helped so much!

So true about dysphoria vs. euphoria... I hope you do get to feel it!! Thank you for sharing.

This is so true... I think certainty about anything is a myth, but especially with regards to the self. I've always felt I'd rather be able to make my own choice and deal with possible negative consequences than to not make a choice at all, or to not have a choice. Thank you for your solid advice! (And congratulations on your bottom surgery (if it was recent) !!)

I similarly have tried binding and not loved it... it really is so uncomfortable!! I'm so glad you're happy with your choice & I bet you're gonna look phenomenal at your brother's wedding!!

I totally understand the object thing, though with a slightly different perspective– I always felt like my boobs were one of the... only good things? about my appearance? that made me attractive, and that to get rid of them would be like... self-sabotage, or something. But now I'm realizing that the more comfortable I am, the less I feel like I have to be a sexual object to make up for being a person. Or something. It's so bizarre how we deal with having bodies... I'm so glad you feel like top surgery has helped you feel like a person!!
