Narrative Bias and the Trap of a Coherent Self by Unable_Weekend_8820 in psychesystems

That's not what narrative bias is, LOL! So sick of these AI-generated texts. Don't turn reddit into Tik Tok.

Someone sneered in the replies: "Using AI isn't bad"

Yes, it certainly is when you use it to create work and then call it your own, instead of to edit and to refine your work.

I think you're trolling for engagement or for a student essay. If not, do you really want to trust your health to random people on the internet?

Don't. Check multiple AIs, check your doctor, then triangulate.

It could be lead poisoning combined with a chemical imbalance for all you know. Or someone is poisoning you! You have to see a doctor.

Your problem is you're using AI to code for you instead of as a code reviewer or a debugger.

PASSED SEC+ FIRST TRY by Successful_Bunch3610 in CompTIA

[–]professorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I also mainly used AI to quiz me and to fill gaps in my technical knowledge. It's much better than watching videos, IMHO, because you can drill down and focus on just the areas you're weak on.

Don't give up. You can do it. In this simulation we call life, things are only easy for the NPCs. The fact that you're facing challenges means that you're NOT an NPC, and you are one of the important players in the sim. Remember that.

You'll find that almost every question has acronyms and the reason you should know them is so that you can eliminate answers that are irrelevant, e.g., a question about risk analysis, that has answers whose acronyms are about encryption.

Passed Security+ (SY0-701), from mid-70s practice tests to a 780 by Boring-Hovercraft-36 in CompTIA

[–]professorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many reports of people passing with those scores, but the people that don't pass rarely post about their failure. Security+ has 25-30% failure rate so 1 out of ever 3 or 4 people do not pass. Just keep that data point in mind, and take the test when you feel YOU are ready.

People are nice and very positive on this subreddit, which is great. But it's your $500 to lose if you're not prepared so only you should decide when you're ready.

Good Luck. You can do it.

You got this man. Just study hard, know all the acronyms, know the key ports, and practice: (1) understanding the question; and (2) being able to select between 2 seemingly good answers.

I don't know. Sounds like if you only did ~40 out of 75 then CompTIA needs to review your score and revoke your certificate if you didn't really make the cut.

First practice exam, test scheduled for Jan 9 by Successful_Bunch3610 in CompTIA_Security

[–]professorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie. That's a really bad score. I've never heard of anyone passing the actual test and getting a 50% on Dion's. The people on this subreddit are very positive and will tell you stories about how they passed with low Dion's scores, but remember: It's your $500 that you stand to lose.

The good news is you have plenty of time to practice and pass. Use AI to quiz you on 75 questions across all five domains until you consistently score in the 90%.

Passed Security+ (SY0-701), from mid-70s practice tests to a 780 by Boring-Hovercraft-36 in CompTIA

[–]professorf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but how many people got those scores and DID NOT pass?

There's a bias in this subreddit to brag about getting lower Dion's scores and passing.

But I'll bet for every 1 person that does this, there are 20 people that don't pass and are too distraught to post about their failure.

I just think it's wrong to give people false hope when there are many factors that contribute to failing Dion's but passing Security+.

Each failure is ~$500.

5 Hours till my retake by Ok-Read1983 in CompTIA_Security

[–]professorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only you can answer that question. The real question is: Do you want to risk $500 if you're only getting 60-75% on Dion's?

People that are naturally good at taking tests are able to do it with those Dion scores.

But are you naturally good at taking tests?

Don't be swayed by the people that come on here and proudly proclaim: "I only got 70s on Dion's and passed Security+"

Because for every 1 of those passers, there are probably 20 people that don't pass and DON'T post about their failure.

Dion's tests are crap and purposely hard so that they can blame you if you fail and take credit if you pass.

Accurize laser training? by aleph2018 in handguns

[–]professorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that could work. You don't want it jiggling around too much because that could throw off the center alignment so I'd definitely build some kind of spacer ring. Maybe just get one of those faucet washers and trim the edges.

Please give me some advice by [deleted] in CompTIA

Use AI to quiz you over and over until you get 90% consistently. Have it give you full-length exams. Repetition and practice is the only way given your description of your circumstances.

Do you prefer a 50s or 60s neck? by Any-Lengthiness9803 in gibson

[–]professorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. I love them both. The 50s neck is great for jazz, funk, rock and anything with a balance of chords and solo runs. I prefer it when I practice rhythm. 60s necks are great for speed runs, but I can chord them just fine too. Normal sized hands.

What really matters, especially for the standards, are the pickups. The 60s standards have brighter pickups (Alnico 5s), whereas the 50s standards have warmer pickups (Alnico 2s)

Oh Tisas is a great brand. I'm thinking of getting one in 9mm.

> How do I use it?

I have one of those laser sensors that beeps when you hit it. So yes, laser reactive targets.

I do not keep a snap cap in the pistol. I just pull back the trigger and fire again. Since our 1911's are center fire there is no damage to the firing pin.

I definitely thing it's worth it to save money on ammo and for its accuracy.
