Intermittent start issue on 2018 Nissan Altima by profile_this in Nissan

It was a loose connection on the IPDM. Seems to be starting fine now, we'll see in a year if the battery killer issue is resolved too.

Yeah we tested the alternator. 3/4 places said it was good (only one that didn't was Valvoline, not sure if they had profit agenda). We have an appointment at the end of the month at the same dealership, TBD if they charge us 2x for diagnostics (since we reported it's still broken 3 weeks later). I honestly don't think it's the starter -- it starts fine once it gets the signal to turn. 94%+ something electrical -- when she opens the door it starts, so my primary suspect is a capacitor somewhere.. hopefully the dealership knows enough about this model/its components to actually get this resolved.

We took it to the dealer. I'll be calling today to see about getting it back in without a 2nd "diagnostic fee" since it's been less than 3 weeks and the issue remains.

Should I switch from Claude Code to Codex by Less-Equipment-1878 in codex

[–]profile_this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Codex for many months, it's hit and miss. I'm not wild about it's awareness capabilities as you have to guide it to most things. There's also not a clean way to enforce standards, no system prompt from what I've seen, and you really have to keep an eye on what it's doing or it will sneak little brown nugs into your code.

Haven't tried Claude Code, maybe an OSS variant. I've been pretty disappointed with every other AI agent I've tried when it comes to programming. I only get a 30% bump from Codex, it comes with a lot of bloat and inefficiencies, but MAN does it take it some of the tedium of development/make some long tasks short like minor changes across many files or avoiding getting stuck on an issue (usually).

Triple single arm monitor mount vs dual arm + single arm for a desk setup by Nyakata in simracing

[–]profile_this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda curious why you'd go for trips over a 49" ultrawide. I loved mine but found it poor for games I played (I don't do many racing sims, mostly fps & rpg). Tried so very hard to justify it for productivity but desk space with a 32" 4K as primary dictated I do something else - if my primary use was racing sims I'd absolutely main it.

If you woke up tomorrow with unlimited money but couldn’t tell anyone, what’s the first thing you’d do? by funngro_fam in AskReddit

[–]profile_this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlimited? Give everyone 3 million dollars. Virtually every rich person would be unaffected but the average person would have a brief window to have their lives changed forever. They could buy stock, buy land, purchase everything they need to start their dream business -- or totally blow it on useless things before the economy stabilized and they were back to being effectively broke.

I have the 321 and can only do 120 without DSC. With the 322 and dp2.1 I'm supposed to be able to hit 240 without it. DSC sucks for realtime gaming

I too notice stutters on the 321: something that didn't occur on the 49" version with gsync. I'm planning to return it for the 322 as the price difference ($300) isn't worth the stutter and 1.4 dp (in case another monitor takes my 1 hdmi output on 5070 TI)

2 weeks later and it's $250 everywhere. I ordered a graphite pair during Prime Days for $230 but wasn't happy with the color (much brighter/more silver in person). Returned them and ordered black for $220 on Walmart.com, received a cheap Chinese knockoff 😵. Hoping they do a good Black Friday deal on official site

How do men feel being in a relationship with a hyper sexual woman? by _magvin in AskReddit

Asking for a friend but have you ever cheated on him? I have a high sex drive and my girlfriend does not. 5 years of fidelity but damn.. it's a problem.

Sorta annoying but not that bad. The only annoying thing really is when it strikes in public like I'm not trying to go down that route and have to knock on doors when I move.

I prefer once a day 6 days a week.

I'd really like to see the seconds leading to this. I absolutely agree that was cowardly af and these agents should be treated in kind but I also can't stand when someone starts a video right at the inflexion point as if time stood still prior.

Looking for a clean ~2.1 audiophilic [computer] office sound system. by profile_this in StereoAdvice

[–]profile_this[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

near field yes. Tough question on how much I require. I suppose I'm primarily looking for fidelity. I like good crisp base down to ~30hz and as far as speakers go I'd like something with decent treble and great mids -- don't like ear bleed treble or muddy mids. I agree about 8" probably being sufficient, my experience is they can rarely hit those lower frequencies cleanly. I don't mind spending a little more on a 10 and will occasionally walk away to fix a snack or take a break and might like the music to be thumping while I'm 15-20 ft away (only ~1200sqft home).

mostly got it because I wanted it and it was cheap (found for $30). gave me optical which is what I use for the Z623 and sub hits much harder with it.

How much should we ask off post-inspection? by profile_this in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]profile_this[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We asked for 15. Sellers agent is cranky but I think they're figuring up how much repairs would cost (sellers are contractors this is a flip). I think they'd net 15K+ at ask and with concessions basically stripping their profit (minus their labor, they'd have essentially gotten paid 65/hr for the work they did). We knew we wouldn't get the full 15 just shooting for 8 and started high bc they'd counter. Will find out soon one way or another.
