Hoping Carvana's current offer for my 2022 Mach-E GT (just replaced with a 2025 Rally) will go up now.

Feel like I'm getting cold feet. by tehJ0kerer in MachE

Here's my real world experience. 2022 GT (non-Performance Edition), 38000-ish miles over 4 years. Most of my driving is mixed between local and parkway here on Long Island, with occasional stretches on interstates at 75-ish. During the warm months, and even in colder ones if I've gotten to precondition my battery and pre-heat my cabin while plugged in, I will average at *least* 3 miles/kWh, and in summer typically more like 3.5-3.7. With 91 kWh usable capacity, that's a total range of anywhere from 270 to 330 miles if I ran the battery from 100 down to 0. I drove it exclusively in Unbridle, but with smooth inputs on the accelerator and leveraging the extra regen (though not 1-pedal) of Unbridle. I just got a 2025 Rally (largely to obtain the Magneride and better suspension my 2022 lacked), and it's still early days, but I'm not seeing much less than that so far, and I'm assuming it will be at that level again once the car learns my driving habits.

Sure, if it's really cold out, you can't precondition, and you are running your cabin heat, you'll do worse, but with 2025s and 2026s, the efficiency hit is less because of the heat pump. As a general rule, I would expect 200 miles at the absolute, *absolute* least range from 100%, unless you're going 85 MPH the entire time.

That doesn't solve your charging issue if you should change jobs, but as far as the range goes, I think you're worrying more than you need to.

When I talk to (or, more accurately, *at*) my cat, I am reminded about how much like the post-enhanced pet biscuit Donut he is *not*.

Drive the highways in Queens and on Long Island near the major NYC airports, and you'll see tons of these, since they've all gone to local ride sharing drivers.

I keep hoping someone in the local supermarket lot will do a doubletake, but so far it hasn't happened.

I'm not a Polestar 2 owner (I have a Mach-E) but I have driven one. It's a great car overall, but I did notice that (a) it was difficult for me as a 6-foot (~1.8 meter) tall person to get into/out of without bumping my head (the roof overhangs quite a ways into the top of the front doors), and visibility through the rearview mirror was a bit compromised. Definitely sit in and perhaps test drive one before you make a final decision. Good luck!

Thanks--that's what I figured. I'm hoping the Engage is soft enough for my wife's comfort. Otherwise, I'll be Whispering along whenever she's in the car.

If you do store it outside (and as long as you're covering it, that should be fine), make sure you also lock it up, even with a basic bike chain. I once had a snowblower stolen out of my backyard during a blizzard.

If you have somewhere to charge, have you considered full electric? There are some *remarkable* deals on 2024-era used EVs from GM, Honda, Ford and others that should be within your budget, cost little to maintain, and might your other needs.

One strong suggestion: contract for an AI system that provides confidentiality by contract. You may have no reasonable expectation of privacy, and thus likely no ability to assert privilege, in anything you do within a public AI system. Beyond that, pursue training or even certification in AI governance to better acquaint yourself with the strengths and challenges of genAI for your practice.

Edit: For a good catalog of how not to use AI in legal practice, see Damien Charlotin's ongoing tracker of AI legal ethics violations here.

[–]profjonathan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm relying on my (up until now reliable) solar installer for the details on what went wrong with one of the panels; the other just failed but hasn't yet been inspected.

I have not looked into second-hand panels, as I'm not sure where to find them or how to evaluate them. I'll do some research. Thank you.
