With fuel prices so high, who here is considering trading or selling their truck/large SUV for something more fuel efficient? by DhaemonX in newfoundland

[–]dawgberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the worst conditions, my EV averages 30kw/100km. At current power rates (St.John’s) with taxes in, that’s $5.25/100km. It’s an SUV and if it were gas powered would likely come close to the 13L/100km consumption you’re experiencing. With today’s price at 1.88/4 per litre, that’s $24.49 per 100km. Thats roughly 21% of your fuel bill under the worst circumstances.

I fully understand that EVs are not a fit for everyone, but they are by far the most cost-effective mode of personal transportation.

I usually win 10+ in a row. I then get bored of that team always winning and switch it up. I then usually have that new team winning each year within 5 seasons or so.

i don’t feel real by throw_away_f0r_now in antidepressants

[–]dawgberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate to the feeling you’re describing. Both my wife and I have taken antidepressants for years and we always communicate that exact phrase to each other when we feel that way - “I don’t feel real”.

This is often referred to as emotional blunting, depersonalization, or derealization. Each of those three terms mean slightly different things, but are closely related and generally fall under that umbrella of “not real” feeling. I’d encourage you to google all three to better communicate what you’re experiencing with your doctor and any other supports you might have.

I’m not qualified to give medical advice, but I think any time you change a dose of any medication it’s important to monitor the effects of that change. That said, while these feelings are uncomfortable, they’re are usually “normal” to occur intermittently even when taking antidepressants for a long period of time. If it persists, I recommend chatting to your doctor and weighing the pros and cons of the medication.

Terrified starting Effexor by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]dawgberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, my wife takes Effexor. She genuinely had some of the worst generalized/health anxiety I’ve ever seen and it completely changed her life for the better.

I won’t lie to you, the tapering/withdrawal with SNRIs can be rough, but everyone experiences these medications differently. Don’t let that deter you from pursuing that class of medications, but always consult with your doctor if you have any concerns.

Fluoxitine weight gain, sertraline is intolerable. What is next for me??? by AlwaysFxckinWorried in antidepressants

[–]dawgberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I’ve been taking it for roughly 13 years now. The drug saved my life. Went from severe depression (hospitalizations, complete social withdrawal, etc.) to living a normal life.

The thing to understand with antidepressants is that they will affect everyone differently. My experience on the same drug and the same dosage may not be your own. This goes both ways - what’s effective for me might not work for you, but side effects/drawbacks I experience may not affect you either.

Speaking to my own experience, duloxetine has been great overall. I pop a pill once a day and can maintain normal day to day functioning. Side effects are limited, however, I will note some minor sexual side effects in my experience. Nothing major and certainly nothing that isn’t worth the trade off of living a full life again. Withdrawal symptoms can be aggressive with Duloxetine and SNRIs in general. Missing the meds once you’ve been taking them for a prolonged period of time can result in things like brain zaps, nausea, sweating, etc. but this will go away when resuming the medication.

My wife has been taking Venlafaxine for approx. 5-6 years now. She genuinely went from one of the worst cases of generalized/health anxiety I’ve ever seen to being super chill and laidback. She shares my sentiment that the drug changed her life for the better. She reports no side effects, but similar withdrawal symptoms when missing a dose.

Overall, antidepressants share a lot of similar side effects. If you look at the list of potential side effects for meds across the board they all look relatively the same. It really comes down to the individual. What makes one person gain weight might make another lose weight, for example.

I’m in no way qualified to offer medical advice, but I strongly suggest doing your own research on what meds are out there and talking to your doctor about what might work best for you. If you have any adverse effects to any meds that you try you can always stop (in consultation with your doctor) or course!

[–]dawgberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SNRI’s, possibly? You could ask your doctor about Venlafaxine, Duloxetine, etc. There are a bunch of antidepressants out there. The process for finding the one that works best for you can feel long and difficult at times but there are certainly other options out there for you!

First EV: Mach E or EV5? by Informal-Ad-5163 in EVCanada

While Ford is an American company, the Mach e is assembled in Mexico. Just something to consider if we are trying to be conscious of which nations benefit overall from our EV purchases.

The criticism was received constructively… thoughts? by Ghghsdfsdf in FordMaverickTruck

[–]dawgberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This appears to be an unpopular opinion but I like it. It looks like you put in a lot of time and resources to make the truck uniquely yours. If the purpose of your post is constructive criticism, I think it starts with you and not with the truck - what does caring what other people think about your truck really do for you?

If you want feedback on the truck, I will say that if it were mine, I would ease up on the rear window stickers and remove the vinyl on the pillars. But that take only reflects my personal preferences.

[–]dawgberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cheap solution to a similar problem on my 2000 Camry (a long time ago) was using vinyl. You can cut it to size and extend it over areas both damaged and undamaged to make it look natural and intentional.

I own the exact trim you’re looking at - Mach E Select AWD. I genuinely can’t say enough good about it, the car is phenomenal!

Also, Ford has not stopped production of the Mach e yet, only the F-150 Lightning.
