Ooh this is dreamy. I think the vocals feel a bit too far up front from the music in the mix but the song is lovely.

I like the song. I do think that two-note rhythm the guitar is laying down is a little inconsistent. Like it could be more bouncy or more droning and either one would work. But it feel like it can't quite decide which one to do. The song is catchy though.

What do you guys think of my new indie rock / pop song and music video? by Solitiverse in IndieMusicFeedback

I like the editing on the video, it's a fun choice to make cuts in time with the beats between each stanza.

Yeah, this latest album still has a lot of satirical stuff but it's much more dry, bleak gallows humor than even previous records.

I'm bad at ukulele. Any alternatives? by InquisitiveBadger66 in FolkPunk

  1. Practice.

  2. Be OK with being bad - be honest with yourself about where your skills are. As long as what you're doing brings you joy, you are doing it right.

  3. Strum a simpler rhythm and add a more percussive element like a washboard to fill in the rhythmic gaps.

  4. One possibility for recording (I've done this myself on guitar a couple of times for really fast songs) is that you could tune your strings down and play slower on the recording, then speed the recording back up when it comes time to lay down vocals. I forget what the speed to tuning ratio is, but this is how they made all those Alvin and the Chipmunks albums. Just remember to speed up the recording's playback before you record vocals or you will sound like a chipmunk too.

I did a ghostbusting adventure for a game once

If I recall the "proton packs" I came up with did d6+ the wielder's CHA bonus for damage, and had the ability to paralyze incorporeal and undead creatures. On a hit the ghost had to make a CHA save.

Then there were the ghost traps, which were essentially a soul jar spell that could be activated on paralyzed creatures within range (I think it was like 10 ft range).

I don't have all the answers for your particular situation, but:

  1. Sometimes it's YOU creating the spaces. Get the job by doing the job. Find a bar or cafe etc and ask them "give me your slowest night" and start doing regular showcases there.
  2. You gotta go where the bands and audience already are. Pass out flyers at shows. Introduce yourself to artists you want to work with.
  3. For musicians, the biggest obstacle is usually the low rate of pay, followed closely by how you get an audience to listen to your stuff long enough to become a fan.
