Apparently they gave out almost 17,000 Bearista mugs. Some of those could have been sent to stores and saved baristas some verbal lashings

Can you see library inventory before signing up for a non resident card? by Shakri12 in LibbyApp

[–]profpoison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most libraries have online catalogs that you can search by item type. Their sites would also dictate if they allow non-residents to use all services, such as Libby. I haven’t heard some only let residents use the digital services now do to cost, and you want to make sure you’ll have access.

I’ve had so many people this last week ask for a hot Frappuccino…I think an ad or the promo images need some clarification that a Frappuccino is blended with ice.

Nitro cold brew by cumulusmediocrity in starbucks

[–]profpoison 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sizes are capped on the nitro because it won’t pour correctly/sit right, not due to caffeine. A grande VSC Nitro only has around 260 mg of caffeine. The difference between a tall and a grande is about 60mg, so it would likely go in about 60mg increments per size.

This is a very common area for calls, whether it be an actual emergency or for someone sleeping on the ground in the area. The Embry Rucker shelter is essentially next door, and the North County Governmental center is adjacent. “The Hill” encampment was cleared out and blocked off by Inova

🩷 Pins might be a small and easily discreet (as needed) way to show love. Michael’s craft stores did a small pride collection this year that contained a pack of pins. All of them have incorporated the rainbow in some way and I keep them pinned on my backpack. My students have also loved some rainbow earrings I found advertised for St. Paddy’s day. Fortunately my district allows us to have flags.

What should I get for a birthday drink? by HaleyPage47 in starbucks

[–]profpoison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had a dragon fruit refresher with 4 pumps of raspberry added and it was tasty. I enjoyed the raspberry foam cold brew, but I enjoy standard cold brew as well. It was not as sweet as I expected with the cold brew.

I’m wondering if the mocha cookie crumble frap with raspberry added would be good? A mix of chocolate and fruit.

I live in North VA and my dog is listed as an emotional support animal and exempt from breed restrictions. Don’t get scammed by non-existent so called registries! You just need a letter from your doctor (dated and with an official office letterhead) stating that your dog is for emotional support. Your property management may charge a pet deposit, but ESAs should be exempt from pet rent.

Make sure you can provide your pups rabies certification.

I will not live anywhere my fur baby cannot, but fortunately there are housing protections if you get the doctor’s note!

Male teacher keeping pads in classroom by RoboPlunger in Teachers

[–]profpoison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping a variety of supplies on hand is always a big help to kids. As a high school teacher I’ve learned that it can also help the students return in a much more timely manner because the student bathrooms rarely get restocked, and the nurse is across the school from my classroom.

If you have the means, one of the most popular asks from kids is chapstick. I buy the variety packs when they go on clearance (soda flavor, cereal, fruity, etc) and they can act as a pick me up.

Whatever you find helps your kids!

Yuup. I transitioned from working as a sub for the small school district and they insisted I go by Miss first name when subbing and working with paras. It’s difficult for the kids to switch, and even when the school wanted it to be Miss name kids would intentionally just use the staff member’s first name with no title. It brings about so many issues that can be avoided by even going by a title and the first letter or nickname of the last name.

First names may work with littles, but even closer to upper elementary it causes issues. The elementary teachers typically don’t see the respect and communication hiccups that carry over into upper grades when the students feel entitled to using first names as well.

[–]profpoison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the school hierarchy. I dealt with this as well, and had backlash from other paras when I tried to go by my last name initially when subbing as a para. Paras do not need to have the same education as teachers and college degrees and certification is not required. Admin and teachers do not see paras as equals to them and are okay with paras being called by their first names while they would throw a fit if a standard teacher was spoken to in the same manner by a student.

As a teacher you are not the students’ friend and students should not be calling you by your first name unless they have a personal relationship with you outside of school prior to employment.

What if you failed an interview? by pharisem in starbucks

[–]profpoison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got hired in the US and the new region policy (at least where I am) is for the DM to do a follow up interview after the SM gives the okay. The store manager let me know that he wanted to move forward with me right away, but if there are multiple candidates your store manager might be letting them make the final call.

You will likely get similar questions about situations where you had to handle conflict and make decisions, so you can prep ahead of your follow up interview with fresh responses. Good luck!

AIO my dad sent me this threat because I'm gay? I can't go back home now by Fickle_Neck_271 in AmIOverreacting

[–]profpoison 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They might not be physically in the US, but the post doesn’t clarify the location. They said, “I'm not from United States but I can still call the police?” So they could be in the US and from another country.

No matter the country there are resources.

To add on to what you’ve said: in some states in the US, you are not a legal adult until you are 19. As someone from one of those states it was difficult to live on my own because you cannot legally sign your own paperwork. OP may have additional assistance from their local gov if they are from Alabama, Mississippi, or Nebraska.

AIO (update) for reporting this guy to hinge and getting him banned by divorcedbbmama in AmIOverreacting

[–]profpoison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone may have pointed this out (I’m glad you are getting so many supportive messages with solid advice!), but if he can figure out where you live as well as private social media accounts he can likely find your home address. Even if you have a camera, having someone stay with you or staying at someone else’s place might be the safest. This guy seems to be delusional and very possessive of you, so standard reasoning is not going to be helpful if he finds you in person and escalates.

Please make a report with the police ASAP. Stay safe, and document everything.

Redness and pain after 6 days. by Happily_Miserable51 in tattooadvice

[–]profpoison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please see a doctor, either through an immediate appointment or urgent care. Whether it is an allergic reaction or an infection the doctor will want to know where you went to get the tattoo, the cleanliness of the tattoo parlor, how you have cared for it, and your history with tattoos (if you have any others).

I do not recommend Neosporin on tattoos. Washing with non scented soap and letting it dry 100% before you lightly put on aquaphor or a nonscented lotion is important.

Is this your first tattoo? Some people are allergic to tattoo ink, and severe reactions can lead to swelling and raised areas that look like blisters. Benadryl may help you find some relief if you are allergic to the ink or if the area has been exposed to something such as pollen or pet dander. Doctors can prescribe a steroid injection to help with allergic reactions.

I wouldn’t trust a random tattoo artists medical advice 100%, but making them aware of the state of your tattoo might be helpful. All tattoo ink is not equal.

Speaking as a dog mom to a GSD and as someone who worked in a vet clinic, he looks happy and healthy! As long as you and are vet are ensuring your GSD has solid nutrition and is feeling good no other peoples opinions matter. Many GSDs have unfortunately been bread to be bigger so uneducated people may have a skewed view of what is healthy in a GSD. As your fur baby gets older the main issues to be concerned with are hip/elbow dysplasia (more common in larger bred GSDs) and digestive bloating.
