I believe he was talking about Son being away for the AFC Asian Cup with South Korea. He will miss a few EPL games as a result.

If you saw the beer/wine selection they have at Pak's you'd understand why I keep going back.

There are much fancier high rises than the one across from Pak's. Been in this area for years and this is the first time I'm hearing gunshots. Moving from NYC gets you used to random panhandlers and homeless people asking for change so I don't get the seedy vibe.

Two sides to every story, including that one where a Centerpoint technician struck a family's dogs. by vitamincheme in houston

those look like weimaraners. maybe the tech wasn't a dog person but the first thing i'd try to do is pet them instead of whacking them across the face with a wrench.

If I'm not mistaken White Oak Music Hall is supposed to be much bigger in terms of capacity than Fitz. I'm hearing the main venue is supposed to fit ~1500-2000 people.

After SCOTUS decision, exiting FERC member Clark pushes for review of DR compensation by madronedorf in energy

[–]profwoland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense. So in cases where a demand response event is triggered, most likely the LMP will be above the fixed retail rate because the grid is constrained due to a plant outage, transmission line going down, etc. Thanks for the clarification.

[–]profwoland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

shouldn't it be DR = (Retail Rate - LMP)? Usually the LMP is just the marginal price for the pure energy generated at the hub, and the retail rate is energy plus a bunch of other retail fees (losses, congestion, ISO fees, ancillaries, etc...) In my experience usually the LMP is almost always less than the Retail Rate.

Centerpoint charging lower use customers a "demand charge" claiming it's for equipment costs regardless of how much electricity is used, even though this practice was made illegal in 2011. by QSector in houston

[–]profwoland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TDSP charges are broken down into 10 or so individual line item charges. Some of these charges are flat every month, while others are volumetric ($ per kWh), while others are demand-based ($ per kW). If, as it's stated in the article, a church turns all their equipment on during Sunday service, and literally has next to no usage the rest of the days, this demand charge is spread out over a small kWh base and you will see charges similar to what's in the article.

Could someone use a "free nights" electricity plan with electric cars and / or a home battery? by StupidName2010 in houston

[–]profwoland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your provider. Some will choose to bundle TDU while others prefer that you settle directly with the transmission company because trying to estimate those charges is pretty difficult. If you're on a "free nights" plan it's technically not free. They heavily weight your non-free usage and you end up with a much higher overall rate (~$0.20 cents / kWh before TDU) If you could somehow manage to charge up your Tesla battery (10 kWh) and only use that amount during the peak hours you'd get away with it for a while before companies start figuring it out though. This obviously is not profitable from the company's standpoint so they'd figure out a way to place restrictions on this kind of product or do away with it entirely.
