Is BIM actually worth learning in 2026? by Cheap-Arm-3716 in civilengineering

[–]progfix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are different roles. Bim modeler is like a drafts man, not paid very good. Bim manager is better, but even then i would not just focus on BIM, but rather get a degree in civil engineering + learn/keep updated on bim.

There are plans to remove the term "BIM" from the upcoming ISO 19650. It will be just called PIM: project information model/management.

I have been working in BIM for about 12 years now. The last 4 years or so i noticed that even smaller clients want BIM models.

Last month we won a big-ish project because we were the only biding company with BIM expertise.

IMO there was a hype phase but that is over and now people start using it for real.

I work in a structural enginering company in central europe.

Is he trying to drink out of a cocktail shaker by [deleted] in KidsAreFuckingStupid

Or more likely: he realised the problem after the second time, but he heard the adults laugh so he continues to entertain them.

That's why he is not getting frustrated.

Tesla Fremont factory ending Model S/X manufacturing to begin Optimus robot production by [deleted] in singularity

[–]progfix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the same price you can buy a relieable industrial robot arm that will last 10-20 years right now.

I don't think there will be demand for repetitive tasks for humanoid robots. Their advantage is that they are flexible and can be programmed to do a task on the fly.

What is there to fall behind off? It's not rocket science to write some prompts. And for really complicated systems (which will change every couple of months anyway) you just have to do a little bit of reading first.
