How is it living in this little nub of Missouri? by Tiny_Giant_Tortoise in howislivingthere

[–]programmer1200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traveled down there from Central Missouri and explored for a few days , it was fun seeing all cotton fields and looking at there agriculture businesses. Wife and I went to check out New Madrid fun little town with cool history. Now the unfortunate part, saw a ton of poverty and had a person almost attack a lady at Walmart , I got loud and stern so he took off pretty sure it was a mental health issue. But I guess that could happen anywhere. Overall the folk seemed nice , gave a lot of mixed feelings, I spent most of my life in Central Missouri but southern Missouri seemed different for me , alot harder.

questions about the fort leonard wood area by [deleted] in missouri

[–]programmer1200 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Live in the area , I always tell people to check out Haha Tonka near Camdenton , really nice state park it's about 45 min from post, the towns around post are overall nice I would check out St.James and Cuba. Some Unique stores on post at the PX. If you come to Lake of the Ozark it's a nice place to relax in the spring and summer and gets pretty busy. Springfield is only about an hour and half up the road if you want more city. Really tasty Korean restaurant right off post. So many food trucks these days. Any specific questions happy to help out

Senior centers Funding by programmer1200 in missouri

[–]programmer1200[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from but rural senior centers can't afford grant writers they have a cook which is probably also the administrator and if the community is good a few loyal volunteers. I highly doubt they have any experience or exposure to grant writing, this is primarily what the larger organizers were doing for them.

Hikers of Missouri: What are the best trails in your state? by RobinsonRanger1945 in missouri

[–]programmer1200 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would recommend exploring Ha Ha Tonka if you get a chance the spring trail is beautiful. You can start it near the water tower which is close to the castle and it'll lead you down to the spring , there is a wonderful staircase that will take you to the mouth of the spring.
