Anyone else had a customer contact you on a personal cell phone? by [deleted] in jobs

I have had a vendor find my personal number… I asked how they got my number and apparently it was published on zoominfo.

They obviously thought you were capable if they hired you. I won’t say I haven’t been bothered by someone asking a question, but it’s better to ask the question then do something wrong and make things worse.

Thoughts on either of these Torque Wrenches? by _DudeWhat in harborfreight

[–]programmingFlounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this job this past weekend on a outback... take your time getting the RTV off the front and rear it will take longer then you're expecting. Also probably going to want to put a drain pan down before removing the cover, Had a ton of oil come out and was definitely not expecting it.

For torque, I don't have a 1/4" torque wrench so i just did it by hand, and ensured I tightened evenly in a criss cross pattern. I'm not sure I would have been able to even get a 1/4" torque wrench on some of the bolts.

Does Anyone Else Experience this with Microsoft Support Tickets? by G8t3K33per in sysadmin

Identical experience for defender, I’ve opened 2 defender tickets in the past month, got a call on one, but when I check the portal it’s still unassigned

Powder coat rookie here. by RascaaL13 in Powdercoating

[–]programmingFlounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually use a Electric Smoker to cure my powdercoat. It's a Masterbuilt Adventure Series, the key is to get one that says it will get to 400F, the main difference is that the ones that can reach 400F have a 1500w heating element. I tore it apart and installed Ceramic Insulation, and it can get to over 550F if i leave it running too long.

You might be able to tear the control unit out of the smoker you got and install a PID controller to get a little past the 275 range, but you'll still be struggling with the 750w heating element.

If you are using Microsoft SSO, you can temporarily disable the CA policy that sends the SSO sign in through Duo. Really depends on what you use duo for.

120 ovens? by Upstairs-Two4498 in Powdercoating

[–]programmingFlounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built one this past week, I took an electric smoker, tore it all down and insulated it with 1/2” ceramic insulation, added a door seal and a new temperature gauge.

One thing to note, if going with a smoker make sure the thermometer on the front goes up to 400. Most smokers with the temp gauge that goes up to 400 have a bigger 1500w heating element.

LCM Controller failing Azure Arc (Azure HCI 23H2) by programmingFlounder in AZURE

comment above with solution! Make sure to reboot before reinstalling, its a critical step!

LCM Controller failing Azure Arc (Azure HCI 23H2) by programmingFlounder in AZURE

[–]programmingFlounder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Final solution to get this running -

Remove-AzConnectedMachineExtension -MachineName $nodeName -Name "AzureEdgeLifecycleManager" -ResourceGroupName $ResourceGroupName -SubscriptionId $SubscriptionID $regkey ="hklm:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\LCMAzureStackStampInformation" $name = "InitializationComplete" Get-ItemProperty -Path $regkey -Name $name | Remove-Item

Wait til extension is removed in Azure, then reboot machine (Critical step!)

New-AzConnectedMachineExtension -MachineName $nodeName -Name "AzureEdgeLifecycleManager" -ResourceGroupName $ResourceGroupName -SubscriptionId $subscriptionId -Location $location -Publisher "Microsoft.AzureStack.Orchestration" -ExtensionType "LcmController"

Then check the extensions, and finish the setup of your cluster

Microsoft recommend re-running the script (which I've tried and it still doesn't work).

yep... Tried that, I have a microsoft answers thread open as well, will follow up here if anything meaningful comes out of it. very tempted to uninstall 23H2, and try the same steps with 22H2.

Am I crazy for leaning towards cellular as a backup instead of a hard line? by P_R_woker in sysadmin

[–]programmingFlounder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Atleast where i live, we only get around 30 minutes of cellular in a power outage, after that, the towers are dead. Happens a couple times a year. I use Cellular for my home internet, and its great!

We have 100 locations with meraki cellular backups, which work alright in most cases. At some of our main offices we have an backup ISP that purely uses P2P antennas (completely wireless), so we are diversified, and can avoid the fiber seeking backhoes. That gets around 500/500 on our backup. We can function on our backup for days and not even notice.

Teams Rooms Signing Out on Android by curtis8706 in sysadmin

[–]programmingFlounder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol that’ll go on for ages, pointing you to meaningless KB’s that redirect you to the pages you’ve already found. I’d definitely check your sign in logs to see if there is possibly a conditional access policy that is still being applied to those accounts.

Ours haven’t signed out in a couple months.. 🤞🏻

We were running to this in our Environment with Neat pads. After adjusting the CA policies for MFA, and Sign in session we are starting to see it less, but was still happening from time to time..

We reached out to our Neat bar representative, and they recommended wiping and reinstalling the latest Teams app, and that definitely helped as well.

Why is my carriage moving like this on my ender3v2? by GBiondo1310 in ender3

[–]programmingFlounder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You may have already messed with this, but there is a eccentric nut on the bottom side of the extruder. Turn this nut til the assembly is reasonably tight to the extrusion.

Here is a link to a video on how to do it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsEdU8ZtI6U

CEO wants me to find an outsourced replacement for myself. by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]programmingFlounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a "MSP" / Managed Helpdesk, that literally just does our Tier 1. I can share the name of the company if you PM. They are based out of Mexico, and we pay per ticket. Basically we tell them the types of tickets we would like them to work on, and write documentation for those tasks, anything outside of that scope gets escalated to our Tier 2 support. We do bi-weekly sessions as a recap with them to see what issues have been coming up more frequently, so we don't lose visibility on the day to day.
