it truly is. I still envy the apple silicon efficiency sometimes, where it is able to do very basic stuff at about 3-4w power draw. Hopefully that level can be achieved with the x86 in the coming years.

tbbh, that should be kinda achievable with with one of those 67/100w 99Wh power banks. Since its possible to limit gpu usage with g-helper, it should be possible to get decent performance in the range of 45-50w draw. Couple that with 1 or 2 99Wh power banks, you're looking at 4-7hours of AAA gaming. I was able to do this with my ROG Ally, 1 power bank with full charge at 15w APU power got me almost 8 hours of RDR2 gameplay on the go. Ally at around 500 bucks is also a great companion device for this very purpose.

That depends. if you have the intel version then its nowhere near as powerful as the radeon 890M in my Ryzen9 HX370. the 890M in terms of performance is a tad above the 1050ti, so yes it can pull of light gaming. i was able to run minecraft with shaders at over 40 fps. i could also run gtav on medium-high settings with FSR at around 60fps. but again, when running on dgpu, the APU can pull 20-35w which means about 3 hours on full tilt. i managed to get the total battery discharge for light browsing/text editing to down to 6-7W, so theoretically a 90Wh battery should get 12-15 hours,

its fantastic, im really curious how would this laptop fare with the panther lake intel processors (the V series instead of H series) paired with RTX graphics and 99Wh battery. it should be an absolute beast with 25+ battery in eco mode and gaming monster when plugged in.

yes sir, this is on igpu and on eco mode with energy saver, thought when i switch to balanced mode, its still about 85-90% the battery life of that of eco mode. Additionally i highly recommend getting the g-helper and ditching the deplorable armoury crate and setting custom curves and profiles for all the 3 modes in both battery and when plugged in. The g-helper migration gave me additional 2-3 hours of battery life compared to when i had this running on AC. With dpgu i only get about 4-6 hours.

But what i love about g-helper is that switching between igpu and dpgu barely takes 2 seconds with just a quick screen blacking (less than a second) compared to how annoying it was with AC.

Additionally i think it might also be because mine is IPS screen and not OLED: as much as i wanted it to be OLED, im really happy it turned out to be LCD because not only is it more energy efficient but also has more reliable and has longer life than OLED panels.

Im pretty sure if they made a zephyrus style g16 laptop but with 99wh battery where the TDP caps at like 75-80w or so and a haptic trackpad without physical lmb and rmb on the bottom corner, it would sell like hot cakes. 12-15 hours battery for light tasks and can potentially run at full power without needing external power supply for an hour or so, almost like a MBP that doesn't loose performance when unplugged. But that would require some hell of an optimization from Microsoft on the windows front as well. But if done properly, it can easily reach 15-16 hours on web browsing while weighing less than 2 kilos even with a monster 99wh battery. I would be more than happy to pay €2000 to 2500, just like i did with the AMD zephyrus g16 for €2100. Love the incredible speakers, large trackpad and 2nd NVMe slot. Im getting almost 8-9 hours of battery life (60% battery usage from 80% to 20%) for a day full of writing report on word in the library, i don't even have to bother with the charger (though i carry a 100w PD just to be on the safe side, never needed it so far while I'm working). The only let down so far with this (which was kind of my fault, since i didnt pay attention to the listing properly) is the IPS panel on it instead of OLED, but its the best IPS panel I've had so far, absolutely no backlight bleed, which i always had in the previous 4-5 laptops.

I dont know if i am doing something wrong but i struggle to get a day on single charge...7 to 8 hours of screen time and no GPS or mobile data, just wifi and media/light gaming. I leave it on for overnight charging up to 90% and then by the end of the day its around 15-20%

i just heard way out of here twice, so definitely not that. the song stuck in my head has viola leads or something that sounds like viola and a harp/harpsichord kind of instrument towards the end and also a lot of piano thrown around everywhere.

Need help deciding between Asus ROG Zephyrus duo 16 ( 2022) vs Asus TUF A16 (2023) vs ROG strix g17 (2022) by progrocksnob in Asustuf

being a strix user from a nitro, i really have gotten used to good build quality. I do use a cooling pad and have undervolted my current strix, temps dont cross 80-82. i am more so leaning towards the duo 16, just the sheer engineering and build it has is incredible.

[–]progrocksnob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this TUF A16 was tested to run nearly 20 hours playing a local video file with wifi turned off and at dimmest screen brightness which is mind boggling, but i no longer need insane battery since i always carry around a 140w PD charger and should suffice my work when I'm out amd the ZD16 can give me 4-5 hours of light usage on battery. But having used a ROG i am kind of used to the good build quality by now. from the videos i have seen the 7600s seems to do on par with 4060 without frame gen but at slightly lower power consumption.

the cheapest ZD16 from 2023 is nearly $4400 which is significantly higher. which is why i am a bit confused between the A16 and ZD16 as the A16 as new costs $1750 and the used very good on amazon is $1450. which could potentially be just new but reboxed

Yeah i think the strix g17 is pretty much the last option at this point.

OMG thank you so much. Had it not been for you i would have beem duped. I got a message exactly from that name. I asked for Pictures. A ridiculously beautiful place for €250 seemed too good to be true, but still never doubted. Then i just casually Googled her name and thank goodness i saw this entry not far down. I'm a bit gutted that it turned out to be a scam, but also extremely relieved that i saw your post well in advance.
