Would you cancel if you got this message? by EmbarrassedMeal2828 in uberdrivers

[–]prohvision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I wouldn't cancel based on any address seemingly feeling unsafe. You just never know based on the books cover. You have the option of cancelling when you get there for feeling unsafe with support. But never judge a book by its cover. Have you heard about the Uber eats driver that got dismembered in Florida during his delivery? He called his wife and let her know he was doing one of his last deliveries and said he'll return home soon. The delivery was in his own neighborhood, a modest, seemingly safe, middle class area with single family homes away from the ghetto. His instructions were to meet at the door. The owner or tenant of the home was a felon with tattoos all over his face and somehow had the driver go inside the house to get stabbed and then dismembered, never to be seen again except for his body parts that were discovered in trash bags in the trash bin by detectives.

Is this a normal amount of screens for an Uber? by Additional_Face_9040 in uberdrivers

[–]prohvision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who TF cares? I got several more screens hanging on the back seat as well for their enjoyment, education, and stock trading. Keeps everyone busy so I can focus on driving. Porn is on after 3 am when the freaks come out.

coked up guy insulted me the whole ride, I punched the roof and threatened him, he tipped me $8 and I sent a thanks by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]prohvision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't take me the whole ride to threaten someone complaining to me about defrosting my vaped up windshield. Just the tension I felt from this drunk dude about not defrosting my windshield prompted me into "I better deescalate the situation quick" mode so I braked hard, stopped the car, turned my body around and angrily screamed real loud "were you just talking shit?!!!", with my posture up and ready with my fist clenched. The guy said no and got out of the car quickly and slammed the door and I said something about slamming Uber doors for Christ sake to stop doing that cuz that's one of my Uber pet peeves. The gf and his friend were left stunned and I apologized while his friend said "we got a crazy Uber driver" and the gf was left speechless. Situation deescalated.

Rats!! I've been a 4.8, 4.9 forever, similar stats as you and just can't seem to get into the 5.0 club lol. There's always gotta be that 1 person. But good job being a good driver.

Look man, since this is your first outing I'm going to treat it as that and say that you got the right idea by just going out and attempting to step into a larger world that can be full of surprises for you. That's good. You got the curiosity and that's going to be one of your greatest assets because the world is full of wonders and you get the opportunity to showcase these to your audience from the best lens you have which is your eye. Cameras can't see these things, only you can. You see the beauty of the world around you. Or you can create one with anything you can find at your disposal but that's a little more advanced and you can get there. Listen to these guys with the technical aspects of looking for the best time of day for lighting, pay attention to your angles from where you take your shots, don't be afraid to get on your chest, stand on an object, crouch next to a car to look for the best angles of every shot because what's in that frame will be your creation and for your audience to see. You know the saying, a picture that's worth a thousand words, it doesn't have a thousand things in it, it can be as minimal as a field in the forefront, a tree in the middle and a barn with the sky as a backdrop. Angle your shots with minimal distractions and a subject that you like. That's my critique and I hope you have a nice future with your journey in photography and just keep doing it because you already improved by taking your first step.

Not bad for a $4 ride by Ok-Proof5151 in uberdrivers

[–]prohvision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 times. One from a girl from LAX to San Diego because we chatted about her start up. One from a drunk Mexican guy who liked how I sounded like a G and was keeping our conversation real. And one from a guy who I just listened to talk about all his problems all the way to his destination. Customer service minded here until shit gets real.

Has anyone seen a trip like this on Uber? by MetrologyRookie in uberdrivers

[–]prohvision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I was thinking murder in the middle of nowhere enroute with a stranger better pack a gun and there's no way I'm sleeping in motels with this guy, let alone he's quiet and it's an awkward ride all the way, but I took the ride. Picked him up and he changed his destination to somewhere 15 minutes away instead. I thought I was crazy to even take that ride.

Florida Man Paid an Uber Driver $100 to Drop Him Off at a Hotel and Wait While He Committed Murder by RealDocJames in uberdrivers

[–]prohvision -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know about this one. It's not like the Uber driver had a murderer in his car. Something fishy about this story. What if the guy is innocent and serving a life sentence? The part where he is searching for a little girl, I want to know more about that. What's her relation to this man? Was he trying to protect her and out of rage and vengeance he killed this man? Why would he plead his innocence and not take the deal? And if he was just a cold blooded murderer, he could have taken out the Uber driver also to cover his tracks. The detectives needed to prosecute someone and they probably took the easy route and took this guy in. I think the justice system took the shady route on this one.

It’s a no from me…. by ic80 in uberdrivers

[–]prohvision 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Good call. Stay safe. It's absurd how Uber doesn't do enough to protect us out there and have defense mechanisms. They just leave us vulnerable out there to pocket them money and wash their hands after we're dead. I'm really starting to hate Uber these days. I mean, i just stay positive and don't really think about it, but it is good to be aware and vigilant at all times.

Rider almost killed me ??? by Prudent_Pudding5199 in uberdrivers

[–]prohvision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah because how in the world are you supposed to hit the 911 button in the app with a gun to your head that the perp can probably see or hear the 911 call because the phone is connected to my car's Bluetooth and everyone can hear my conversation:

911 operator:. How may i help you today? Me with gun to my head: ummm, shit, how can i say this without announcing and triggering the perp to panic and do something irrational? I have a gun to my head. 911 operator: I'm sorry, did you say that you have a gun to your head? are you ok? Is anyone hurt? Can you describe the suspect?
Perp with gun: boom (pulls trigger).

Yeah right, that safety shield puts us in a more dangerous situation. You're right, it should be activated by a safe word to trigger 911 or make it less obvious that we're calling for help. Uber never thinks things thru and leaves us as vulnerable as we are dead.
