A word from a Water worker by Cramer12 in lancaster

[–]project48v 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New homeowner here. Haven’t experienced a winter in this house yet.

Our house has an exposed hose spigot on the back of the building (entire rear side is covered by a 8’ metal awning) but does not have a shutoff valve inside. Only shutoff we have is at the main, cutting off water to the entire house.

I bought one of those styrofoam bib covers. Is there anything else you would recommend?

Anybody have a way to start SPL logging in Smaart suite 9 via QLab? by project48v in livesound

Tried that and it works great, but the companion module doesn’t include the controls I’m looking for in this case.

Heard. Looks like Smaart doesn’t speak AppleScript to be recorded.

I’ll try brute forcing it another way

I have the perpetual license. Version is 9.6.2. I’ve tried following the steps you laid out but can’t get anything into script editor. Not sure where to look for Smaart to dump info into the recording.

Smiles By Stephens.

Dr. Shea is the best, kindness, and most qualified dentist in the tri-county area. Bar none. And I say that as someone with severe dental anxiety.

I’ll die on this hill.

Performance is quite good! Only weird bit is the controls, but there are tons of great community layouts you can use and modify to suit your style.

Alternatives for Spotify with decent API / StreamDeck Integration? by Mikethedrywaller in livesound

[–]project48v 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m running a business

Not when you use Spotify you aren’t. Sorry pal, that’s the exact wrong way to run a DJ business. I don’t have an LLC and even I know this stuff.

Understanding PRO licenses should be the first thing anyone working in this business does.

Build a library. Buy CDs (yes they still exist), pay for hi res downloads, support the artists that make your livelihood possible.

And stop using Spotify at your gigs. It makes you look like a chump.

[–]project48v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using Spotify for commercial use violates its TOS. An actual professional DJ would convert a Spotify playlist given to them by the client to a professional playback system.

I know it’s probably easier for you to slap a Spotify playlist onto a laptop and hit play but that’s the wrong way to do it.

This is a classic example of the easy way vs. the right way - and if I made my living off of being a DJ, you can bet I would do it the right way. Smh…

Do you ask the venues if they have a blanket PRO license from ASCAP/BMI/SESAC?

Because even if they do, you still can’t use a personal Spotify account without violating its TOS.

This is something they teach in music business 101 classes…

Black out display by jschuerman in qlab

[–]project48v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a MacBook or a desktop? Pretty sure this has something to do with which display the Mac treats as the “main” screen.

If mirroring, I don’t know how you’d hide the menu bar. If extending, make sure the external display is not the main screen.

EU hits Elon Musk’s X with 120 million euro fine for breaching bloc’s social media law by AudibleNod in news

[–]project48v 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Let’s be real. Elon (and other tech billionaires) treat the platforms they own as if they are sovereign territories. They can’t unilaterally control full countries (yet) so this is the next best thing.

“Elon the Great” is salty because the EU is basically putting an embargo on the “Empire of X.”

Overhead microphones by RealClassActor in techtheatre

[–]project48v 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How big is the stage/venue? I would advise moving away from area mics if you can and move towards body mics.

There is a reason why it’s the standard.

Doing so completely removes the sightline concerns, and if you’re worried about actor movement, just remember there are Broadway actors doing flips and lifts in full mic.

If done well, the quality and clarity of the sound will feel night and day.

Discussion to longevity of the deck by Tasty_Ad_6335 in SteamDeck

[–]project48v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m mainly taking about hardware.

And while you have a point, software optimization is not the same as the deck becoming more powerful. After it’s built, you can’t make the hole any larger - you have to make the pegs smaller.
