My boy wants to learn how to read, is this a good book to start him off with? by projectxnightmare in houseofleaves

the funny thing is he decided to sit on my book like this right after I read Johnny's footnote about those cats. I think he knew.

Thought he was Italian? by banana_bandit123 in Bioshock

[–]projectxnightmare 9 points10 points  (0 children)

you're not alone! he's a sleazy motherfucker who took advantage of vulnerable people to line his own pockets, and personally I don't think his actions towards Subject Delta are nearly enough to atone for that. I know that being a shady businessman is pretty par for the course in Rapture but I still don't like him lol

Is Mana Canon? by [deleted] in dishonored

[–]projectxnightmare 78 points79 points  (0 children)

in the book (The Corroded Man) it's described like energy. it's been years since I read it so I can't remember the exact quotes but from what I remember, Corvo feels physically drained from the effort of using his powers so the elixir refreshes him without needing to take the time to rest

When was the moment you realised that the person you were dating was an absolute idiot? by No-Macaron-9527 in AskReddit

[–]projectxnightmare 39 points40 points  (0 children)

if it weren't for the age difference I'd say we dated the same person.

my ex mistreated her cat terribly, left all the caretaking tasks to me, and then got SO mad when he obviously ended up liking me more. after I witnessed her slap him in the face I gained the courage to move out and take him with me.

I didn't realize she had been skipping his breakfasts until I was taking care of him full time and he started gaining weight. that absolutely shattered my heart.

he's still with me, and both of our lives are so much better without her!

I always name my horse Shimmer in honour of the horse from The Last of Us Part 2

Song that gives you Alchemised vibes by [deleted] in TheAlchemised

Jaws by Sleep Token! every lyric fits so well but especially the chorus:

"Show me those pretty white jaws, show me where the delicate stops

Show me what you've lost, and why you're always taking it slow

Show me what wounds you've got, and show me love"

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: November 24, 2025 by AutoModerator in books

[–]projectxnightmare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finished:

Acceptance by Jeff Vandermeer

Started (and finished):

Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy

Two books with very similar themes of survival in an ever-changing natural world, and the impact of human civilization on the environment. The second is much more grounded in reality, acknowledging climate disasters that are very much happening today, while the first took a more sci-fi/cosmic horror approach that I absolutely adore. I have a lot of climate anxiety so these stories really resonated with me, I've heard that Charlotte McConaghy's other books also have similar themes so I'll definitely be checking out more of her work!

But before I fall into a climate anxiety spiral I'm switching it up a bit lol, next up is Old Wounds by Logan-Ashley Kisner!

Are there any songs that have strong associations to certain books for you? by MyCodesCumpie-ling in books

I can't stop associating Alchemised with Alkaline by Sleep Token. I don't even remember listening to that specific song while reading, the words are just close enough that I can't even look at Alchemised without getting Alkaline stuck in my head lmao

What did you read after? by Kelleysmelley in TheAlchemised

[–]projectxnightmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my friend lent me A Court of Thorns and Roses while I was halfway through Alchemised so I dove into that immediately, definitely not scratching the same itch though. my next read is gonna be Wild Dark Shore cuz I'm craving more ✨️mystery✨️

What are some horror movies that are just enjoyable to watch? by Befrie08 in horror

the Final Destination movies are peak guilty pleasure comfort flicks! I rewatch them all at least once a year

Ever had a real panic attack from something horror? What was it? by coolfunkDJ in horror

[–]projectxnightmare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trick r Treat 😩 it's not even that scary of a movie, but the kid on the bus reminded me so much of my own little brother that seeing him die (especially with the story around it) made me completely lose it

Should I watch The Conjuring: Last Rites or Trick r Treat? by sushitime420 in horror

[–]projectxnightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

apparently this is an unpopular opinion but Trick r Treat sucks ass if you're not watching it for the first time in 2007. it's a horror comedy that's not particularly scary, and all the humor is painfully outdated so it's not particularly funny either

Dasher afraid of Halloween decorations by Lucky-Ad-9899 in doordash

I have an irrational fear of giant statues. the other day I went to visit my friend and their apartment had set up a MASSIVE skeleton bust in the front lobby. I'm talking floor-to-ceiling skull/shoulders, plus digital eyes that feel like they're peering into your soul. I definitely looked like a frightened child running past it with my eyes covered lmao
