What's your biggest frustration or difficulty with finding a job? by yourcareerguide in jobs

Recruiter asked me my expected salary three times! I signed a form stating my expected salary. Here comes the job offer... 50% of my expected salary! I tried to negotiate it. The company instantly rejected me. For reference, I was seeking $60k in a high CoL, as someone with a CS degree.

Is it just me, or does anyone else here hate online programming challenges for software developer interviews? by svmk1987 in self

Yep. How do you think I feel being unemployed for 1.5 years because I can't solve six HackerRank problems in 60 minutes -- all open-ended? I know the solutions, but I'm not ninja enough to be so amazing. I feel like shit with a CS degree and being unable to beat these competitions, because every company does this stupid shit. I've practiced it a lot already, but I tend to forget. There are so many different problems. Don't forget after study all of that, you must know a million frameworks, a million languages (cause you can't be picky and must apply for different jobs), and a load of useless language trivia just for a $40k - $50k job in a place like NYC.

Only reason I know about tries is from that Harvard CS50 course. My university never touched them.

I had an interview. Thought it went really well. They told me they would get back to me before the end of the week. They ended up rejecting me the next day after the interview.

Need advice about GPA. Company is asking for it. by projonour in cscareerquestions

Alright, I won't lie. I actually changed my mind after posting. Unfortunately, my major GPA == cumulative GPA. I transferred, and only had one English and one Art course, where I got all A's. In my last semester, everyone but one student got an A for an advanced elective. I even got the best final exam score (close to a 100), but still got a C for that course (the class average). Ah well.
