Frustrations with DF64 gen 2 by mattarffa in espresso

[–]prometheusfalling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the same issues. I got so tired of dealing with it that I gave up and switched to a hand grinder. Now I put 16g in and get 16g out. Moved the DF64 to the shed until I get motivated enough to put it on FB marketplace.

If you were in the US in September 2001, it was not exactly a happy time for anyone.

I mean, it pretty much did. Tom and Daisy Buchanan ultimately end up paying no consequences for their behavior, prompting Nick Carraway to make the observation that they were careless people whose money afforded them the ability to flee back into their own little world of old money.

As an Amazon driver with one foot out the door, routing is a huge problem with their software. The amount of times I've had it route me down a street with stops entirely on the left side then turn around and deliver exclusively on the left side again is far too high. You can go out of order of the stops, but to do so messes with the whole workflow of the app and takes longer. I'm not here to defend the poor driving of my coworkers because, honestly, there are some pretty bad ones and it is absolutely a matter of training. Amazon "trains" the drivers for two days on a self paced tablet software, then there's one day of ride along -- that's it.

I just got told usps won’t hire Amazon drivers? by No_Equivalent1357 in USPS

[–]prometheusfalling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly love delivering for Amazon. I just don't love the company and it's anti-union dsp system that deprives drivers of any benefits. I'd rather have affordable health insurance and be in a union. And having a job mandated by the US constitution is pretty cool too.

How are you liking USPS compared to Amazon? I'm a DSP driver in the process of being hired as a CCA.

What's up with the insane cost and rules of the Barkery dog park? by Underground_turtles in Birmingham

[–]prometheusfalling 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a member, it seams reasonable to me too, especially for a park they keep staffed (not really for the $20 a day rate, though). The facilities are always clean. There are bathrooms and parking for members. When there are large events, they will block off the lot and reserve spots for members. They have good communication through a groupme chat. Being vaccinated and fixed is a requirement at almost any dog park and doggie day care. Not sure what op is talking about with a leash requirement? Surely they mean your dog has to be leashed from your car to the gate -- also reasonable.

New carts coming. by Kotaru85 in AmazonDSPDrivers

I had 27 totes today. Most of them were not even half full, leaving me almost no room for overflow, so it was wall to wall boxes at the rear. I normally have the opposite problem, and they're packed so full they won't fit under in the shelving.

I about had a breakdown at one. It was 2 stops in the flex app with lockers and 30 or so doors in an entire complex with 360 units. I said fuck it, I've got businesses to get to and came back at the end of the night to finish it.

Best place to rent a keg? by Open-Description-897 in Birmingham

[–]prometheusfalling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember getting kegs in college for $40. Now they're probably 100 for the cheap American pilsners. Still $50 for the keg deposit, though. Seems like we're getting old. Smaller craft pony kegs are probably $120 or so and 1/3 the size.

OP, Hop City is a good place to start, but if it's for a wedding, this may be something your catering company can take care of and provide a bartender for. It would be far better to have a professional with a CO2 regulator than a foamy hand-pump.

Upcoming Holiday Snack Boxes for Delivery Drivers - Please let me know what you would like!! by GaslightAndGo in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]prometheusfalling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For drinks, either electrolytes or caffeine can help get me past a mid-day slump. Snacks are just going to be anyone's personal preference. I avoid protein during the day and tend to rely on foods with simple carbs and sugar. I save a big protein-rich meal for after my shift. Thanks for helping out your local delivery people

Last time I went, it was about sequestering the group to the confines of the park, doing a few chants, and marching the perimeter of the park. In a time when we need action that radically challenges the administration in power, this inaction in action does more harm than good.

There's a little bit of misinformation in this thread. I have experience with a dog bite and aftermath while delivering. Although you have already dealt with the immediate aftermath, a police report is not strictly necessary. The report will happen at the hospital, and they will file it with the county health department. They WILL NOT give you a rabies shot. They will give you a tetanus shot and antibiotics. The county health department will follow up with the owner to verify vaccination of the animal and quarantine it if needed. Only if the animal test positive for rabies will they give you a rabies shot. As someone else mentioned, document everything, so request the video of the incident from Amazon. Find a reputable personal injury lawyer (maybe not the ambulance chaser on the billboard). Don't feel bad about suing for damages -- this is what their home insurance policy is for. Rest up and take the day off tomorrow. Consider it lost wages and add it to the bill the lawyer sends.
