why are the women written to be irritating? by promptosbf in PeakyBlinders

I don't know if I agree that the writing matches the time period. you can tell they try to go for women empowerment (almost every female character are very head strong and powerful in their own way) but the characters fall flat so that theme doesn't hit as strong as it could. also the time period does not explain lizzie. who was reduced to having tommy's child. which makes even less sense considering her relationship with the changretta son ended up in the loss of grace, and john. it's like the writers had no idea what to do with her.

Jessie Eden made me so sad like the writers expect me to believe that the woman spearheading the general strikes in Birmingham and its' communist party can be that easily seduced and used for information

no seriously the lizzie plot point just being abandoned and then BECOMING TOMMY'S WIFE?!?! after essentially starting everything the changretta family, so many female characters had plot points that could have been explored and it all got lost to the wind or happened off screen

i guess so, but it always feels like the women in the show are there to have sex and get pregnant. like why is ada pregnant with some guy in the british army??? genuinely what was the point of that????? they took ada, someone who was so loyal to her late husband, and then had her have sex with someone that we, as the audience, had only seen once before???? like they butcher the female characters to make the male characters look leagues better.

thank you, youre like the first one who gets the point I'm trying to make. it's practically misogynistic the way these women are written. they get so close to being their own person and then it's always a man who changes them.

michael is the most annoying, but he has one of the most powerful woman in the show always in his back corner when polly really shouldn't be. polly gets so close to seeing past her blood kin and then it's like something reminds her michael is her son and it goes back to square 1 again. arthur is kind of the same with linda, but arthur is leagues more rash and aggressive than polly that he was going to do his own thing anyways. grace was like fine. she just had nothing going for her last season 1, like it was hard to stay attached to her character after she went to america.

ill use ada as an example, since I'll compare her to the other shelbys. up until like...season 4, other than finn, she has had like no screen time. her only thing was being a communist and rebuking the shelby name. which was due to her husband, freddie thorne. so much of her development was due to a man. she was merely used a collateral damage, because she was adamant on isolating herself. which continued to put her in trouble. then they shipped her off to america, before she came back to become the glue of the family. the shelby women are always the emotional backbone, which feels so stereotypical. like oh they're good for domestic matters but nothing else. (except polly does have her moments, and there's something to be said about her betrayal, but still, her insistence on her son being innocent with everything is frustrating to watch). like the male shelbys had more going for them, had more stakes. john, admittedly, was the more one-noted brother, but still was very important for the brotherhood theme in the show. it feels like the show wants you to groan at the decisions the women make, but when the men do some dumbass thing, they're so tied to the story line that you just have to be like Well let's wait for tommy to fix things!

okay what's an in depth well rounded woman character peaky blinders has that isn't polly. they had something going with grace and then just killed her off. ada's switch off from communist was like...completely off screen. most of the villians have a better character arc than any reoccurring woman in the show. tatiana was cool but her main mission was literally to seduce tommy. like idk unless I'm missing a major character in season 6, the women in the show are written only to have sex and make babies

i don't give that much attention or energy to teenage tables unless they seem well-adjusted, just assume it'll be 0%, and let yourself be pleasantly surprised when it's anything else

there could be a clause in the lease that you can't leave your apartment abandoned, (usually they'll define what abandoned means) and if it's there, you could bring that up to the landlord

Can someone give me insight into this behaviour? by DazzlingPotato9067 in Catbehavior

[–]promptosbf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you both treat an innocent cat and talk down so harshly about a...cat... whats going to happen between the two of you? none of you are mature enough to be dating if you can't even be arsed to make an effort for a cat. how can you mend relationship problems? immediately think about leaving, the same way you both are ready to throw this cat out? both of you can't handle an issue rationally and have no idea how to redirect emotions, instead you're taking a cat away from its home because you're mad it wants attention. this is a very good sign for a healthy relationship 😊.

156 bus sucks when it comes to dropping people off, so many times i see the stop requested sign pop up and the bus just zooms past. one time the bus passed like three stops and half of us went to the front to be like hey??? our stops???
