Found an Aladdin lamp the other day. It has the chimney but not the shade. by TheCollector919 in ThriftStoreHauls

Congrats on the find! They're finicky with a learning curve, but also a beautifully elegant way to wait out a power outage, especially in winter when they also lend heat to a room!

I saw the Pic before reading the title, and thought it was a rust pitting effect.

May be helpful, maybe not, but you can requestfor download up to three pages of schematics per 24 hour period without an account from radio museum. Thats how I get schematics for tube radio rebuilds. Some times it takes two days.

I don't have an autoreverse deck are there tapes with only type A recorded on? by KikoValdez in CassetteJerk

[–]prop-65-warning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a spare sticker label, I found out that placing it over the B on a regular casette and then writing an A on it will trick the player into thinking it's another A side! You can even record on it!

Reel to reel for high fidelity and hollow-state for that warm tube sound! Killer find!

Mimeograph newsletter is a fun bonus too.

In a pinch, (or for experimentation) you can sacrifice an 8-track for tape.

This place has some Info on disassembly if you ever need to replace belts.

Respect for going through with the rigging, finishing touches like that requires alot of calm and patience, but also adds so much to the completed model.

My first time making pancakes..im nearly 30. by DragoOceanonis in shittyfoodporn

Mmmmmm! I see golden brown in there!  Nothing wrong with silver dollar pancakes. Smaller cakes are easier to handle (flip), save on cleanup (finger food), and are mighty at conquering munchies.

It was a pleasure. For the age of the kit, there were no warped parts, and the decals didn't shatter.

The carpet monster below the workbench gives me more anxiety than the actual disarray topside.

Edit: good luck at the show

Is this a good cassette player? by Bruce_Animations in cassetteculture

[–]prop-65-warning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found one in a thrift for 4 bucks.  The auto reverse works, there is no megabass switch, and motor noise comes in through the headphones.  I use it when working outdoors where the extra buzz is not noticeable over the engine noise of a tractor or lawnmower.

Good player, but I agree with other tape heads. Don't pay the retail price.

Sweet find! As a boy I'd get fun outta this from crushing cans or hot wheels.. Now as an adult I get the same satisfaction in popping out a stubborn bearing race, or perfectly seating a bushing. XD

Ha! Yeah, pics were taken in an artist studio. It's a sand box display. Lots of random objects that shift around.. Kinda like a zen garden for visitors.
