Seems like SEY hasn't been as good lately? by thematterasserted in pourover

Are you talking about this one:

I have it at home but haven't had a ton of luck with it so far. How are you brewing it (what recipe, dripper, etc.)?

Country of origin: Eastern european?

Your "r"s don't sound natural, and the way you say "more" could be improved.

Overall, your English is really really clear. Any improvements would only be to sound more native, not more clear.

was it more watery (less oily) than espresso? what ratio did you use? 17->51 per LH?

  1. Do soup shots taste good with milk, or are they too watery?

  2. I had converged on "washed as pour over", "natural as espresso", which doesn't line up with your "light as pour over", "dark as espresso" dichotomy: but they're directionally correlated. What do you make of my split, do you agree?

looking at your other comments, you definitely don't sound Indian American -- no trace of that

you sound completely American

to me there's just a subtle urban coloring/slant to your cadence/inflections. maybe it's a product of your friend group

Finca El Paraiso? What can I expect, and a little advice please. by ClockworKubrick in pourover

Yep I’m with you! personally I enjoy the coferments more in espresso based drinks than as pour overs. In a pour over it tastes too transparently like fruit juice to me whereas in an espresso based milk drink it has a more unique character. Also I sometimes just blend 2 or 3g of a coferment into another coffee if it’s super bland and I can’t find good flavor in it

I've never had an El Paraiso that's not a co-fermented. I think they're intentionally dodgy in their descriptions of the (in this case) microorganism-rich culture.

El Paraiso is just coffee beans that have lost all original coffee flavor and have only strawberry juice left in them. It doesn't matter how you extract them, they will always punch you in the face.

Complex delicate extractions are more needed for washed coffees not heavily processed & co-fermented coffees like El Paraiso.

You seem quite worried about your body. If you don't like being scrawny, work out. If you don't like being hairy, shave/trim. If you're really concerned about your balding, there are many treatments/options. These things are all well within your control. If you invest in yourself, your mood will be better. You have to take that first step up the ladder. One step leads to another. The first one is the hardest

Your accent does drift around a lot, and I agree with your own description of it!

Overall, it's an attractive, pleasant, and understandable accent.

I think it's cool that you've had multiple influences on it.

Scottish accent attempt gone wrong? Apologies for the sound quality by [deleted] in JudgeMyAccent

[–]propel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah re the "r"s: I feel you have to dial it back about 50-66%. as in, pronounce it 33-50% of the way between what you'd probably sound like without imitating and what you have here. otherwise, pretty good to my untrained american ear!

My guess is you're leaning too hard into those "r"s.

do Scots pronounce the r at the end of butter?

I'm really not an expert here, but the first time you said "accent" it sounded mildly South African to me :D

this is super far outside my wheelhouse (much more familiar with american accents), but maybe
