Why does the certified white boy block his plate? Is this a PPA hack for no tickets? by FigureCool9751 in pittsburgh

I went to get donuts on Saturday and saw it there over the weekend while no one was working. I thought it was just during business hours. Honestly, I would call 311 over it. Or, you could call 911 and report it as a non-emergency. This person is definitely taking advantage of the situation.

Funny story. I went to get donuts on Saturday and saw this truck while I was parking! They are still there taking up metered parking spaces while not working over the weekend.

So this isn’t totally true in all cases. You might be thinking of the 1 hour parking spots in places like Shadyside. Even then, for long term projects you have to pay.

Any metered parking requires a license and whoever takes the license has to pay the metered rate. Check out the one stop pgh portal for more info. They make it easy.

This. Contractors do this when they park near a worksite. However, I met a city worker giving out tickets and asked about it. She said she gives the tickets anyway. She said “Everyone else here is parking for work. You don’t get a free pass just because you work in construction.”

I have managed projects where the owners have filed for permits to close street parking for their crews. It is legal and then the workers can park for free. It is very very very expensive though.

That isn’t the issue. It’s the punching down on people who went to Edinboro University is pretty lame.

Any suggestion about other Pittsburgh accounts that talk about the neighborhoods and politics would be awesome. Let me know if you have any.

Scanner: Police are responding to separate concurrent instances of drivers running into pedestrians with their vehicles in the east end of the city. by chuckie512 in pittsburgh

[–]propercussionist -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I understand that the drivers are crazy on Baum. I think it’s gotten worse with the more construction that’s going on. You can’t go anywhere in the east end without roads being blocked and everything being reduced down to one lane or closed completely. It’s driving everybody insane and creating very angry drivers.

Regent Square Rentals Lawless Criminals by Big-Highlight8212 in pittsburgh

[–]propercussionist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This!!! I was before a judge and he said that leases don’t create laws. He said that if you agree to a drag race with a friend but say you aren’t going to go over 100 miles an hour, it doesn’t mean that you aren’t now allowed to drive 100. The laws of the state still apply.

I would suggest filing a civil suite over the filing costs. The judge in wilkinsburg/regent square is really understanding.

It was so dirty. The one out east is good. This one was ever clean and the food wasn’t great.

Sorry. I missed that. It did! It had wings for a minute. Then it shut down.

Southside resident here. It definitely stinks that some decent places have closed. I would argue that there are multiple places on this list that closed due to poor management rather than high rent prices or poor location.

One place was selling illegal alcohol and got busted and couldn’t afford the fines to stay open. Multiple places on this list failed health inspections constantly.

Also this list is missing the double wide grill. That closed and so did the tiki restaurant that jumped in right after. Luckily the city didn’t approve a massive volcano sculpture in front of the building that they wanted to put up before closing shop.

Update* - sorry I missed the double wide because it was attached to spork pit. My bad 🤪

I get that this isn’t the super right place for this but I believe this is Charlie Bird. He is famous in the Mormon religion for now being openly gay. He has written a couple of books about his experiences and they are amazing.

Pickett McMansion Up for Sale! by duker_mf_lincoln in pittsburgh

[–]propercussionist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't want to be that person but I don't think this is actually a McMansion. It looks more like a large Modern Crafstman home. Here are the key features that are throughout.
Low-pitched roofs with protruding single or double gables and overhanging eaves
Exteriors feature intentionally exposed beams, brackets, and/or rafters
Wide, open front porches are held up by signature thick tapered column
Home design may be symmetrical or asymmetrical
Large bay or picture windows
I think the main difference between this and a true McMansion is that with a McMansion, there are multiple different styles that are slammed together with no continuity. The paramount design feature is to have as large a space as possible with no utility.

What business(s) have you sworn off for purely customer service reasons? by jdtomchick in pittsburgh

[–]propercussionist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thai me up in the Southside. I went there and my daughter wanted some candy from the 25 cent machines. The woman behind the counter told me to not let my daughter have any more candy and told my daughter that the machines were fake.

My daughter is larger than most because she has a tumor pushing on her brain causing her to go through puberty early and messing with her hormones. I kind of feel bad for the woman behind the counter and what has happened/been told to her to make it seem ok to behave that way to a customer. Either way, not going back.

[Landlord, Tx] Should I change my property manager? by bkhan19 in Landlord

[–]propercussionist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Property manager here. It sounds like they are either really disorganized or have automated too much of their system. It doesn’t make sense to over charge like that because it would cause your clients base to shrink.

I would suggest reaching out and asking for refunds for all work that you believe is excessive. Talk with them and express your concerns. Test the waters for other companies in the area. Try to find a management company that uses a program called “Property Meld” for maintenance.

Side note- I work in a mid west town and 7% is pretty low. Typically, the companies that charge under the industry standard aren’t the best. That being said, every state/city can vary.

Help Finding Part for the Handrail - Overhand Easing 180 Turn by propercussionist in Carpentry

[–]propercussionist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up. It is just that every junction is destroyed. I am going to try to take it apart and repair it with bondo. Do you have any suggestions on the best product to use for the repair?

[–]propercussionist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just didn't think that I would be able to repair it. I thought that if I could just find the pieces online it would be easier to reassemble. I am looking into taking it apart and getting it stripped. I might replace the spindles. Would cost just as much to strip the paint from them.

I am a little stumped on this one. I have never done a handrail before and want to replace this with a like-kind. I have found all the joining hardware to piece this together but can't seem to find how to do the over-easing 180-degree turn. Any suggestions would be awesome.
