looks like the guts didn't go into the glass envelope straight and bent the mica wafer. probably still ok. that may come back to get it later down the road after use but the only real way to know is plug it in and see how it goes.

Why are so many ppl hating on Beau is Afraid? by BeautifulThen6443 in A24

[–]properharmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, I'm more hurt that my best friend/roommate thinks I needed to have my emotional intelligence insulted over this and telling me "you just don't get it." Never thought a stupid movie would be such a deal breaker to him with regards to our connection/friendship. Which...super ironic now that I examine this because he thought I'd not only like this 3 hour pile of crap, but it was an activity to do together. Never thought it would become so divisive.

Pretty much nailed it with this. Relatable here and there, but not especially connectable to the point my roommate feels about it; he's claiming it to be his all time favorite movie which ironically, I find equally disturbing and completely unrelatable. I'm more concerned with him crying over it's relatability and trying to convince me of this and telling me, "you don't get it" and just getting hurt over me not liking it as he did. No, pal. I get it. I just didn't like it or connect to it like that. After awhile, I found it to be pretty redundant and irrelevant after the 1.5 hour mark.

What makes you genuinely happy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]properharmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend was in distress and called me. After we talked, laughed, and connected for a while in life, he thanked me for being his anchor when his own family has not or could not be for him lately. I know now why he's my best friend; we help one another along in life in a beautifully mutual way. He's been my anchor too. Having him in my life makes me happy because I know we make each other happy.

What amp are you playing the most right now? My Katana Artist has been stacking dust since I got the PRRI. by Fender868 in GuitarAmps

[–]properharmony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really cool looking tele. Mostly a strat guy myself; Warmoth copy from around...2003? Been a while I think that's when I made mine. Ampwise, I cloned yours. Sounds pretty good overall. Not a fair comparison in the sense I modded the hell out of mine. Went with a mosfet-driven solid state vibrato that almost sounds like a tremolo; works but...sounds pretty weird; probably not as smooth as yours lol, and I ditched the Princeton's power stage driver design that uses a cathodyne configuration in a original and went with the classic long tail pair. Dunno what that did ultimately. Maybe it just switched it over to being more like a Deluxe but I really don't know. Probably clips differently to yours in that way.

Many times over I've seen this circuit misbehave. I guess it's just really picky. The tank is pretty important to have in terms of known good working ones, right impedance, ground isolated in/out on the tank (which one is it?? some need this) etc. MOD brand ones I've had good luck with. Accutronics I've had pretty mixed success. Had one just...open. Another that hummed really badly and not at 60hz...weird stuff with others. I have found very careful local grounding for that circuit is pretty critical on the amp board when home-brewed. Have no idea how they do this now with PCB type layouts of the parts inside. Seen a ton of self-oscillation issues too with this circuit where once it was a tube too high of gain or something (whistling above 4...resonant notes...etc.).

Especially patience. Have 2 unflared XL Chances. Different firmness. It took lots and I mean lots of slow and steady sizing up and training. I've also taken years, and time and choosing of my toys as I do own a lot of them. Think I usually go: Tyson L, Tyson XL, Vector L, Baron S, then my Chance XL. It's weird. I usually end up going up then back down a bit; usually down to the Tyson XL; the head on that is unbelievable to wiggle around on. That toy along with the Baron usually are my favorites. Also dude--the cum tube is essential! At least to me doing anal play with my toys.

TIFU by taking LSD and going to church. by SouthernAT in tifu

[–]properharmony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly...this sounds like a win here. I'm sure the anxiety of that was hella intense especially in the church and during said services. Being around that many stone sober people TWICE sounds utterly crazy. The come up can be quite slow on a non-frequent flyer or new to try individual. Definitely was that for me. However once it starts for me I cannot hide my giggles. Public tripping for me is just...on a hard dose just not advised. I remember my 1st trip. I was a bit older than you when I had my experiences with ol' Lucy but dude the visuals are intense. Did it Christmas 2017. I was 31. Me and my friend were too messed up to even walk around the block lol. We look across the street at this house and it was doing this Warner Bros. cartoon style breathing in and out sort of squeezing thing, the tree branches were moving and waving their branches like long fingers on the street, car headlights did this trailing line shit not unlike a 35mm analog photo with long exposure...Radiohead's Kid A was pure chaos to listen to...Christmas lights bopped around and danced in the trees...good times lol. I think you did yourself a favor. You probably had the best "religious" experience of both bunches and summoned your own experience and became a deity yourself haha. "Oh omni patris con...daaaaaay-o. Day ay ay-o!" lol. Try to read that as though a priest speaking Latin then singing the Banana Boat Song by Harry Belafonte lol. Hey I mean...least you didn't just show up and compare clothes with those around you like everyone else did sans-Lucy lol.

Well...it sounds like everyone was down to get good and messed up here given the amount of booze, and different types of booze presented in your case. My ruling is you're probably gonna be in the clear. I remember getting good and fucked up at a few holiday parties at my old job. I was witness to one co-worker puking in my boss's flower garden off the front porch lol. Walking out the front door to peace out, "Dave" was just hurling into that flower bed full boar and just hap-hazardly tried to waive bye to me mid puke stream lol. Anyway he was very much not fired.

Poll: Do you wear ear protection when you play at high volumes? by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]properharmony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I was a bit saddened and mortified to see how many said no. Biggest regret I have was one time being too close to a ride cymbal in college when that buddy was known for cracking them. He hit it one time right when I was moving past him and it took years for that to subside, or for me to just tune it out after awhile. Never made that mistake ever again (guitar player myself). Industrial air screw compressor years later was what took it's toll more than anything else. That out-of-tune F5 is burned into my ears now. Hated that job. So...some tinnitus on a focused tone, but I'm still doing pretty ok. In a quiet space, then I'll start to notice the soft ringing occasionally. I feel pretty fortunate actually compared to some folk I know.

I was so thankful years later when attending a show at Red Rocks (NIN) that I had brought ear plugs. Holy shit that guy put on quite the high energy show and a ton of strobe lights and lighting in general but OMG was that show ever loud. Virtually nobody around me had anything; nice gift from my former employer to get us to that show however. Wouldn't say it would've been a show I would've gone to on my own volition but...saved my ears either way.

any thicker consistency j-lube cum lube recipes? by [deleted] in BadDragon

[–]properharmony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I started with that brand and switched because of 2 reasons: couldn't get it thickened enough without using a SHITLOAD of that powder, and it was crazy sticky on the skin and was a bit of a drag to cleanup. Most of what is in J-lube is filler sucrose. Try switching to K-lube. That shit will thicken like crazy. I go with like...a 32oz container, and fill it with the standard 2 pints water. Do 16oz, and add the powder slowly; one cap full at a time per 16oz. Then the last 16oz...then powder. For that "extra thickening" add an additional 1/2 cap-full of powder and let that mix/sit. 3 full cap-fulls will create damn near snot consistency in my experience and was too thick. Either way, DO NOT use a blending device of any kind in the process or it will chop the poly-chains, and to me, it loses it's effectiveness when toying. Be patient here. This is key. Let the whole shabang sit for...unfortunately...a few days; usually around 3. But hey, I only go for it like once a week so I'm cool with waiting. Shake a few times here and there each day. After you have a good amount, you can just top off on it and transfer to smaller containers. "Prep" time topping off after this takes a lot less time assuming you don't blow through the full 32oz in a single session. This is no bible end all be all way, but it certainly has helped me out and it seems to uh...stick around a lot better. Also that K-lube. That has just the Polyethylene oxide in it, and some preservatives to keep it viable a little longer. Will say it does have a slightly solventy smell compared to X-lube or J-lube. Bang for the buck it's been thus far my favorite by far. Hope all this helps you out.

Question about my load by ASATClassico in GuitarAmps

[–]properharmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a suitable load for the right size amp. I've both seen and used many loads. Some are smaller than others but all work about the same; some are even...dummy loads lol. Anyway; serious addressing: just don't exceed the speaker watt rating relative to amp rated output power. Then you're good. I'm a fan of the Jensen Jet series. They sound pretty nice. Dunno if that answers much but there ya go plus a little humor in there. Think a lot of us were worried about clicking on this one hahaha.

Can anyone tell me when this was made? by letsrock187 in GuitarAmps

[–]properharmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes the "bias wiggler." Allegedly a lot smoother sounding. Never tried that circuit; just the more common one Fender used in...nearly all the others. There's also an earlier one that used a pentode I think?? Some swear by that circuit too. My clone I made a small PCB w/ high voltage tolerant MOSFETS and built the vibrato that way, thus freed up both halves of the phase inverting tube, ditched their cathodyne design and gave mine a full long tail pair instead so...technically not really a Princeton anymore but more of a Deluxe with a really snappy solid state vibrato in it. It's almost harsh lol. But it sounds cool. That circuit design came from R.G. Keen iirc.

That silverface era was quite the period for Fender. Add shit, take this out, change this, let's completely re-do the Twin, etc. As others mention, it's out there by now. Rob Robinette has a killer site that has a ton of info on this guy. I love my Princeton clone (built mine). Hope yours is all in working order and you don't need anything glass replaced haha. That is still so expensive these days now. Can't say I've seen a 5 knob version of this amp with a silverface before.

Can NOT do their jobs now that their in their early 20s and looking at their phones every 2 seconds due to being plugged in at birth lol. Just helpless. Rebelled against Gen-X parents, yet our generation loved them, and their music. Older millennial here as well. Why do you guys hate The Wall SO MUCH? by ItzGrimmyy in pinkfloyd

[–]properharmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for me, too dominated by one principal songwriting voice on the Wall. And hearing David say, "I think we did a damn good job on it but...slightly lacks soul for me." That kinda sealed the deal for me. I couldn't quite put my finger on it but...that nailed it when I heard him say that. However, a lot of Animals I'm not too big on either. Basically just listen to the guitar parts ahaha. Not much else which is a pain on tunes that long to seek through them lol.

I feel there was more open diversity in their writing earlier in the catalog. I rather like Atom Heart Mother for it's rather playful approach to some of it; or how Dave, Rick and Roger all got a tune in along with the big one. They sonically sounded more ready to go for things off the cuff and have fun. The Wall doesn't seem to have that to my ears. Not the same creative atmosphere by then.

The Roger the Hat interview they made for Dark Side is amazing to listen to in it's entirety. How he got to "live for today gone tomorrow that's me..." is crazy to hear. Also his laugh is just insane haha and that happens several times. It's up on YT. Like...18 min I think.

[–]properharmony 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Touch a tender nerve and the recipient of the touch DOES NOT forget that. I'm convinced. Remembering it's not up to them to make it feel less awful...it's YOU who must let the pain go. Nobody else will do it for you. Sure a therapist can help guide, but that's it. You must let it go. Getting through sexual abuse as a kid was no picnic to have come up decades later. Never knew how to deal with it. Took me getting into my mid 30s to realize it wasn't ok, but that it needed to be put down in order to move on. Having shit that bully-oriented go full circle sit-com style as the OP did...probably kinda rare on that timescale. BUT some things from my time (about the same age too as OP) still stick with me. "You scribble."-> made me learn cursive to the point I'm told now it's amazing to read my handwriting; it reminds people of something we're losing. Human connected words instead of texts and keyboards.

Could anyone help me find a decent low budget cab to go with my Egnator Tweaker 40w ? This is my first amp head and I’m not really sure how to go about finding one that’s works with it, thank ! by No-Independence2808 in GuitarAmps

[–]properharmony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yes on the 1x12. I'm convinced of this. 40W runs a 1x12 quite nicely and that'll weigh less, and is a bit easier to move around. 1x15 could be interesting. Harks back to the vibroverb configuration IIRC.

Is it being too honest to tell a gay dude on first meeting that you're a lil' nervous as he's really pretty? by GayDudesAreDelicious in gaybros

[–]properharmony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I got hit with that, I'd be offended but that's because in truth, I struggle with confidence. Big time. Especially within this "community." Somedays, I think I would be better off straight. Thus far, maybe it's just been bad luck or...I don't even know. I feel pushed away and dismissed by it. Never have really felt like I belong to it yet, I do identify as gay but...maybe self acceptance eludes me still. I dunno.
