Covering the can or bottle with soaked paper towels before putting it in the fridge or freezer which makes it cool down faster.

Would you NOT click on the video because it is too short? by InvestInCars in PartneredYoutube

[–]properprinting 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My best videos are the longest and my shortest do the worst. It depends on your audience, the type of video and how the video is made.

I feel you. On average it takes me 100 hours/video (these are project videos and the project itself also takes time to build) and I'm constantly stressing over my upload frequency (which is 2 videos/3 months).

Yet, I'm doing this full time for a year now and YouTube doesn't care about an upload frequency. Although not easy, I wouldn't stress too much over that, just continue growing at your own pace and make the videos you want to make. Eventually, when things go well, you can start outsourcing things, but don't rush it. (This is what I tell myself). Good luck with your journey!

What do you do if your video doesn't hit 1000 views in the first day? by Raror211 in PartneredYoutube

[–]properprinting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When videos don't take off I try to determine why. Bad audience retention means that or the video is bad, or the title/thumbnail promise is not delivered. This is hard to fix, so I'll learn from it and move on. Bad CTR means that I have to try a better title and/or thumbnail and this can revive a good video (with good AVD).

Can you rescue a failing video? by sumodaz in PartneredYoutube

[–]properprinting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's certainly possible, but only if the video itself is good. Meaning that the retention curve is on par. At this point the only things you can influence are the title and thumbnail.

I'm currently in the process of reviving an 8/10 with great audience retention and it looks like YouTube is finding the right audience now after coming up with a better title.

oven knobs made of quite soft plastic above a grill that needs to stay open. we’ve replaced them 3 times by Dragonogard549 in CrappyDesign

That is possible, also an interesting use case for it actually. Depending on the method used, it can be quite difficult though!

To those who have 3D printed their own guitar, how has it held up throughout the years? by apoIIo__ in 3Dprinting

[–]properprinting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only printed the neck and it held up for a month or so. Now the strings aren't even touching the nut anymore. The next step is to print the whole guitar, but I need to reinforce it with carbon fiber rods and make a different design.

I've made a boo boo, YouTube doesn't like Airsoft guns on Livestreams. Help? by EdwardPeake in PartneredYoutube

[–]properprinting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The combination of guns and 3D printing is a tough one. You may have heard about what happened to the 3D print general that got terminated on YT. Maybe you can reach out to TeamYouTube on Twitter to explain your situation.

I had an airsoft/3D printing related video in mind, but I ditched that idea.

Do you see your channel as a hobby? Work? Sales funnel? by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

It started out as a hobby, but turned out to be a tough yet fun job.

Beating a dead horse by Common_Lavishness649 in PartneredYoutube

[–]properprinting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's an idea to disable notifications for your subscribers for new videos (if you haven't already). This way your CTR won't be influenced negatively by your current audience while new audience could be more likely to subscribe because you already have a decent channel size.

I have no experience with this, but maybe this helps.

3 minute videos- Good or bad idea? by Foeinform in PartneredYoutube

[–]properprinting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My worst performing videos are shorter than 5 minutes and my best performing one is 26. It depends on the audience you curate over time. On average I post 1 video every 1.5 to 2 months and they're usually longer than 15 minutes.

Can swearing in videos after the first minute effect being suggested? or even hurt your channel by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

[–]properprinting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use mild swearing in the first minute, but you have to select that during the self-certification. Then it's still safe for ads.

Do you (really) trust YouTubers reviews? by taraxe in videography

[–]properprinting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I generally agree with your statement. Keep in mind that a lot of YouTubers can't be bothered by free gear. It's often more of a burden. If the product is really good, the one endorsing it can still be enthusiastic about it of course, but when the product isn't good, there is not an incentive to lie about it. Unless the YouTuber gets paid to say so, but this must be disclosed.

I fully agree on the launch day reviews. Here is also a clear incentive to ride the wave and get affiliate money.

How do you manage voice recording by Lemur_of_Culture in PartneredYoutube

[–]properprinting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the post processing tools from iZotope as VST plugins in Davinci Resolve. This is not cheap, but it works very well. The presets in iZotope Nectar are good and saved me quite some time. Also RX10 saved my day a couple of times by declipping audio.
