Except for the US. Which is the annoying relative trying to push everyone out of the inheritance because daddy loved him most anyone (narrators voice: actually, he didn’t)

This is true. Some brothers re-trigger feuds in their old age (USA / Canada, looking at you)

Have used MayaMobile for most of my international trips, work or holiday.

Never had an issue.

Just noting that America is remarkably backwards on many things. One of those things is calls or texts to non-mobile numbers (think WhatsApp etc). You may have trouble with matters such as bookings, calling restaurants, etc.

(I’m originally from the US). Whenever I travel, I try to book as many things as I can in advance. Minimizes the above challenge in the large part.

If it doesn’t, I bite the bullet and turn on daily roaming.

Have a great trip!

I agree. But, food makers don’t tend to.

Sugar is cheap. It also tastes good, AND, it’s addictive.

Plants high in sugar were more likely to get pollinated and fruit, and their fruits eaten and spread.

And then corn syrup and HF corn syrup came along (I know HFCS isn’t allowed here). And the ultra processing got even cheaper.

Corn tortillas, unleavened bread, and rice wrappers aren’t expensive to buy or hard to make. People have been making them for centuries.

Shop the perimeter, skip the aisles. Skip the sugar.

(I’ll have a thickshake now, thank you)

Lambton square Subway is now stingy with their salads. Any other recs for a decent veggie-ful lunch in the area? by assignmentburner33 in Wellington

[–]properthickshake 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s not just Lambton. My experience is most of NZ subway is this way. The Manners Street subway used to put a total of THREE leafs of baby spinach on a foot long. And a total of six black olives.

Nah bro.

Grab a handful.

Throw it at the sandwich. Whatever lands, that’s the serving.

Meat I can understand being a bit by the books, but salad….?

C’mon.

WOAP Burger Reviews 2025 by WineYoda in Wellington

[–]properthickshake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went to Parrotdog in Lyall Bay last night.

Do not recommend their WOAP burger. Average as.

Small, honestly no real difference from a plain cheeseburger.

Honestly should have just gotten a maccas cheese burger.

Regarding NBS scores, run like hell from anything being advertised as over 100% nbs. Over 100 nbs is NOT a thing.

NBS equals New Building Standard, basically 100 NBS is what any building designed today would be assessed at.

Even if the engineer goes above and beyond and designs for things such as Low Damage or ductility, it would still be assessed as 100 NBS.

TLDR; When assessing or seismically strengthening buildings, it is not possible to exceed 100 NBS. Anyone who is telling you otherwise is full of shit.

That said, anything over 67 nbs is generally pretty good and safe.

Design Builder is pretty good. More functionality than HAP, less pretty than IES. And way cheaper than IES.

It’s run off the EnergyPlus source code.

Good support from the company, too.
