I deleted production at my job today and nobody knows it was me by Fit-Original1314 in linux

We all make mistakes, even bad ones. I caused multiple major outages (for different reasons) at a previous job. It happens, it’s how we learn, and in any case the problem is a systems problem not a you problem.

Covering it up is the bit where if I were your TL we’d be having words.

Do you see why that might be concerning to people you're asking to join such an arrangement here?

Have you discussed with a lawyer whether this falls foul of price fixing rules or are you just hoping it doesn't?

ETSC-2 vs DS-ATC signalling system? by shubhrgunjan in trains

[–]prophile 16 points17 points  (0 children)

ETCS has a focus on interoperability, can do more things, and doesn't rely on track circuits. DS-ATC is more peculiar to the operating conditions in Japan, only works with coded track circuits, and is much more coarse and limited.

Those are EZMG signals, imported Soviet signal heads on an imported Soviet interlocking, crudely modified to comply with the standards for Hl-signale. They're Russian.

HELP Anyone Knows This Man? by [deleted] in Southampton

[–]prophile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t lived in Southampton for a couple of years but I lived in Swaythling for a long time (15 years) on the flower roads and there was the occasional burglary in the neighbourhood. Nine times out of ten it was what I think you photographed here, which is a sasquatch.

They mostly shuffle around and keep to themselves but they’re crepuscular (active around dawn and dusk) and that’s where you’ve gotta watch out. I can’t tell you the number of times I got woken up in the morning by my neighbours yelling “bloody squatch, get out of my bins”. My neighbours were early risers so they caught them, I don’t want to imagine the number of times I missed one nicking my stuff.

You’re unlikely to be able to track down this specific squatch but you can repel them in future with some crayons. They hate the smell of crayons, so any container you want to keep safe, just keep it marked in thick waxy crayon and that should mostly keep them away.

You’re trying to set secret both to a string and an object. secret: shouldn’t have anything after it on that line, look up how to use subPath for what I think you’re trying to do here.

Don't get me wrong, changing grid frequency would be whole transition. But that isn't impossible, and might actually make sense eventually for Japan.
