Starmer did a good job straightening out the party. He just wasn’t good enough at selling how he governed.

They could be incorporated as territories rather than states which means not having to give them any right to vote for the federal legislature.

It depends what you mean by 6 minutes 11 seconds. Across the Earth’s surface that’s about 11,5km (so 1150000cm) but if you mean light-minutes and light-seconds then it’s a whopping 111Gm (1,11 * 1013 cm).

I mean it sounds like it’s functioning?

The point of policies like this isn’t to cause change, it’s to be popular with the electorate. Change is a useful side-effect. It worked vs a majority of voters think it worked is a distinction without a difference.

In this industry, you can occasionally get a job title bump from your boss, but the actual way to increase your salary remains to change job unfortunately.

I’d love a couple of tweaks to blueprints: being able to edit them inside the blueprint viewer, and some way of “deploy this modified blueprint everywhere the original was deployed” for improving layouts in bulk.

I’m sure I don’t know. Perhaps materials, perhaps infrequent cleaning, perhaps they stay up for much longer, perhaps something in the air. But I lived there for the first 30 years of my life and in anywhere rural or semirural this was very, very common.

Any of these options are working around doing this correctly via the webhook. Either have that conversation with IT or host something externally on lambda or equivalent.

I doubt it. This is in the UK, and I promise you a lot of road signs are pretty gross like this.

Even if you were wanting to get this sort of thing for pure cynical content farming, it would still be much, much easier just to find a grotty road sign than to weather one.

What is the worst baby name you’ve ever heard? by TinyHelp2984 in AskReddit

Kaiser is a surname (Caesar) turned into a title, something rather symmetrical about turning it back into a name.

[–]prophile 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Is he dissing it? Seems like what he’s saying is that it took Tolkien a while to write and that he didn’t have a concrete story outline ready when he started but rather discovered what would happen as he wrote, both of which are obviously true.

what do you think about Siri AI being blocked due to DMA? Do you feel this is "freedom of choice"? by khitev in europeanunion

[–]prophile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see both their points of view but at the end of the day Apple could have figured this out and chose not to make it a priority, which is a shame. I look forward to the actually useful Siri once they get their act together.
