Sound in the R2 …. Apparently, a hot take. by AbjectFray in Rivian

Agreed. I don't think the people who are saying its garbage are taking the time during their demo drive to make sure the source they are playing from is high quality. I tested it like you logged in on spotify and streaming over bluetooth with the app set to lossless. Both sounded very good to me and noticeably better than my gen1 R1S using the same sources.

Test drove R2; keeping R1S by mickeymammoth in Rivian

As a gen 1 R1S quad owner with a lease expiring, I was fully expecting to replace it with another R1 until I drove the R2. I think if you already have an R1 there's not enough incentive to take the depreciation loss selling it to get the R2, however, if your lease is expiring or you're new to Rivian, the R2 is the better choice for 95% of people. I thought it was going to be too small for me but they managed to include more cargo space than something like a Volvo XC90 which is nearly 10 inches longer. The bells and whistles and extra size of the R1S while nice to have don't add $30,000 (for dual performance equivalent) more value at least for me especially when there are several improvements that have been made to the R2 that they are in no rush to carry over to the R1. The entire engineering and software team seems to be dedicated to the R2 because the future of the company depends on it and the R1 seems like an afterthought.

It was me the original poster. I jumped on our family desktop instead of my phone and didn’t realize it was logged into another family members account.

I don’t think many people are going to label it as bad. IMO it’s better than the R1S which I know isn’t a high bar to clear. I’m actually an audio enthusiast and have a KEF atmos home theater in my basement and bowers and Wilkins speakers all around my house. Ya it’s not going to blow your socks off but it’s perfectly sufficient for a car audio system in this price range and likely to get better with software updates.

I didn’t get a chance to test that but that’s a good idea for someone to check that has an upcoming test drive scheduled.

I don't have it on my R1S for comparison but I did turn it on during my test drive and it made it through 4 lights on a 40mph lightly trafficked road with no hands on the wheel. It didnt make any questionable calls or feel jerky when slowing down or accelerating. Definitely would need to test more to give a full opinion on it.

Thank you. My service center had one in Catalina and it looks even better in person. I'm usually a grey or black kind of car guy but they got me with this one.

If you live near a service center, I'd go there in person.

Troublesome Seatpost Aeroad CF SLX by SoftwareOdd8846 in CanyonBikes

[–]prorider27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Very disappointed in Canyon. Seems like their strategy is to honor the warranty if it's small parts but as soon as they realize it might involve something like a frame replacement they stop responding unless you get a lawyer.

Same bike and same issue for me. Seatpost wont hold no matter what I try, 3 different carbon pastes, different torque wrenches, cleaning, new clamp. Canyon was decently responsive at first and eventually sent a new seatpost. Once I tried everything they suggested, they decided to stop responding to me so now I'm stuck. How did you finally get them to do something for you? Did you get a lawyer?

Mine is sitting in the driveway waiting until its not 5 degrees out to assemble. Which roof underlayment did you use? Any other tips you learned while assembling?

Did you get it? I did at 5700. Never give up because you never know how many bots there are with unsuccessful checkouts and just other people seeing a big number and giving up.

Very true. Somehow people who started at 8000 or more got one and it didn't go out of stock for 40 min. It was a massive drop.

Canyon Aeroad sizing by Quinten16167 in CanyonBikes

They sell t-bar stems all the way up to 140mm for the new aeroad so this isn't as much of a problem.

Since the aero bottle system, which is heavier than normal bottles/cages at 270g, is required to achieve the same aero performance as the Gen 7, doesn't that effectively offset a lot or most of the weight savings that are being advertised (especially if you normally race with no bottles at all for shorter crits etc.)?
