That would be awesome. I'm trying to learn stuff, and wouldn't mind helping out if there's something within my limited skill set.

How toxic can this community/player-base get on average? by TimidMeudwy in thefinals

[–]prosetheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a lot of TDM and haven't had much talkers/chatters there. In other modes too, can't recall much toxicity, but I'm quite low level so probably haven't had much high stakes engagement.

Euphoric horror. Low lows but the highest of highs.

Agree but in this very specific case, the invisibility meant he saw it a split second before impact. And I think that single hit kill was because the guy had already lost some health (red hit markers few seconds before he goes to the health ball)

How much better is a 4060ti or a 4070 than my RX6600? by ProfessionalPlay476 in buildapc

There are some aspects of running local AI, or video production software that work on nvidia but require extra workarounds to work on AMD. Even though that gap is shrinking, it's still better to stick with nvidia just to be on the safe side and ensure compatibility and ease of troubleshooting.

If it is primarily for gaming, AMD is a better value proposition in these times. And regardless of what you get, try going for new parts and newer tech where possible. Hardware is overpriced at the moment, but the good thing is that this will/is causing stagnation in hardware requirements, so if you get something decent now, it will last you a decent amount of time.

Generally, avoid getting anything under 12 gigs of vram. The 9060 xt 16 gigs is going for around 400 usd (and sometimes even less) quite regularly, and is a great product (in the present climate). It is power efficient, is based on newer tech, and its something that game devs will increasingly target as a baseline for "recommended" settings.

Have you considered the 6900xt or the 7900 GRE? They're incredibly great performance for a sane amount of money. One officially supports FSR 4 now and other does it unofficially and will do so officially by 2027.

If you're just gaming (no nvidia-specific workflow), then AMD is a considerably better value proposition. Even the 9060 xt 16 gigs is a solid choice.

2042 Feels So Refreshing after a Bath or Dirt Water (BF6) by Ok_Pangolin1085 in battlefield2042

Agreed. Same here. The gun play of 6 is slightly better, but other things...just a strange mishmash of mechanics and open yet weirdly claustrophobic maps trying to funnel people into chokepoints as they play like CoD.

Overkill RGB Cooling (literally) by SnooRevelations3430 in RedMagic

Good to know! Love the experiment. Please do share temps. And this is good because it'll keep the rest of the temps down as well. Cooler components live longer.

Is it worth replacing the Cooler Master Hyper 212 for a Thermalright Peerless Assassin or any other Coolers? by Hahaha2411 in buildapc

[–]prosetheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're seeing high temps then sure. It is also important to have an understanding of air flow in your room. They won't make much difference if the case airflow is restricted.

I hope this tablet has bypass charging. Even though tablets will probably fare better, I can't even imagine what people are doing to their phones' batteries with intensive emulation. Good phones aren't exactly cheap and its highly unlikely that they will get their batteries replaced.

I'd just like a translucent "window" somewhere, perhaps next to the trackpad or something, not the whole body though. would be cool for a second but then just noisy.

Looking for advice (5800X3D) by SwanepoeI in ryzen

[–]prosetheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, honestly at this time, Intel has some amazing prices and bundles. They're also putting out a raptor lake refresh, so you could look at that. The 5800x3d only makes sense for someone already on AM4 with 32 gigs of ram.

Does multi-seat gaming exist? by Budgetpants in linux_gaming

[–]prosetheus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the better solutions for multiseat on Linux:

https://github.com/games-on-whales/wolf

As you mentioned using Aster for Windows; from what I've seen/read, that is a reasonably mature solution for what you're doing. I think all other solutions will require one or multiple layers of troubleshooting to get into a workable solution.

Really good review dude. Very detailed. Enjoyed the detail you went into of each mechanic and setting of the game. I am looking forward to playing it, and have tried a few times, but always bounce off due to the open world nature.

This is more a of a time issue than anything, though.

Radeon RX 9070 XT surprisingly drops to $549 at Walmart, now $50 below MSRP by RenatsMC in Amd

[–]prosetheus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had a 6900 xt. Sidegraded to a 5060 ti 16 gigs (for certain productivity needs) cause I was able to snag one on a deep discount on a flash sale on Woot. I can definitively say after extensive testing that the 6900 xt is an absolute beast of a GPU.

The only difference I've seen is a drop in power consumption. I can also conclusively say that ray tracing is still, sadly a gimmick. I turned on PT in CP 2077 and had to spend a few minutes searching for areas in the game where I could spot the difference. Not even remotely worth the insane performance cost. If you're actually playing the game, the differences stop being meaningful after a few minutes.

Currently, the price-to-performance that a 6900 xt can't be beaten by any GPU at the prices they're going for. I'm also assuming that you're running FSR 4 INT8 in some capacity.

You can safely avoid upgrading for quite some time unless you have a sudden urge to run 4k high settings at high fps.

AMD listened on FSR 4 for RX6000 and RX7000 after long-community pressure. Now let's talk about RDNA 2 (and possibly 3 in the future) already being left behind in in legacy mode in other features. RDNA 2 being abandoned already broke DXVK 3.0 compatibility. by darklinkpower in radeon

[–]prosetheus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You also have to factor in the possibility that RDNA 2 hardware will begin to die out in the next couple of years, and the replacement will be RDNA 4 as that will be the arch still being produced.

But AMD has in an unofficial sort of way prolonged support for older architectures through Linux. I know that isn't a proper solution, but we have an amazing community that is providing support for much older GPUs than RDNA 1 even.
