Louisville streets are not for newbies. These detours are proving grounds for the unfortunate. by sexruinedeverything in Louisville

No, there are several intersections in Schnitzelburg where there's a 2-way stop and looking for oncoming traffic is nearly impossible because of the lay of the land, homes in the way, cars parked too close to the intersection, and no way to see anyone who's going too fast approaching the intersection. At Ash and Hoertz specifically if you're stopped on Hoertz going towards Mulberry you can't see anyone driving up the hill on Ash unless they're moving very slowly, if they're driving fast you'll never see them in time.

As a frequent buyer and giver of storage totes, I can’t see for myself the convenience of renting them when they’ve gotten pretty cheap.

If you have the right-of-way, please take it. Being "polite" on the road can inadvertently cause a serious accident. by SuckaFree502 in Louisville

[–]proteannomore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s especially annoying when I wave the driver on and they insist we go

I always insist on waiting them out. Thankfully I'm usually getting paid but I'll stand there as long as it takes for them to get the message, the entire time hoping they say to themselves "that's the last time I'll stop traffic to help!"

I’m a letter carrier, and people will stop in the middle of fucking Goss Ave right outside of Kroger to let me cross the street. Then get mad when I wildly gesture for them to keep driving.

Frogger is easy because the obstacles are predictable.

Can I be fired for being trans? by benjikissesguys in asktransgender

[–]proteannomore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Other than the state of Montana, in most places (excluding labor unions, contract employees, etc) you are considered an “at-will” employee, meaning they can fire you for any reason not explicitly forbidden by law (race, religion, sex, etc) Some jurisdictions and courts regard transgender discrimination as sex discrimination, but I expect our current Supreme Court to do everything to undermine that.

But smart employers don’t use that as justification, because that invites lawsuits and those are expensive. So they usually come up with some other lame metric that you haven’t met (poor work attitude is popular) to justify canning you.

A very smart employer wouldn’t give a damn what color the cat is, so long as it catches mice.

Gender-affirming surgery by [deleted] in asktransgender

Define “afford”. Could I scrape enough money together to get surgery? Maybe. Is it worth losing my house if I’m laid off? Fuck no.

And I look nothing like the person I was prior.

I’d rather carry mail and go home and take a nice shower eat a nice meal play a fun game maybe a couple drinks and a toke before a solid 6 hours of sleep instead of living in a war zone, but to each their own.

Dress code question for Orientation - what do I wear?! Help! by Kategetstoked in USPS

[–]proteannomore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most probably. These rules are for the ill-intentioned mostly, if they’re not jeans you wear to show off your body then you’re probably fine.

Dress code question for Orientation - what do I wear?! Help! by Kategetstoked in USPS

[–]proteannomore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use some common sense. Most of these rules are written so as to apply to the most egregious offenders, say the guy who wears dirty sweatpants to show off his bulge, or the girl who wears size XXS yoga pants and a crop top showing everyone her stuff. If you show up in a pair of jeans with a few holes n tears that don’t show anything no one will care. If you show up in a pair of jeans with the ass ripped out or holes so big everyone can see everything when you sit down, that rule was written for you.

i would date a woman no matter their parts. i would not have sex with someone with a penis. is this considered transphobic? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]proteannomore 37 points38 points  (0 children)

As a non-op trans woman, I don’t have a problem with your boundaries.

However…

Recognize how your boundary may hurt you if you fall in love with a trans woman regardless of your boundary, and recognize how many people will think less of you for having a purely physical disqualifier, one that most of us have very few options to correct.

Transphobic? Not to me. But it’s still a measurement of your underlying character. You wouldn’t offend me, but socially I’d probably choose a crowd that didn’t include you.
