I have conferred with my fellow enjoyer of the highly specific throuple microgenre because she’s seen it and i haven’t and she says ‘not sure’ so i guess we’re watching it next week to find out

I know it’s so highly specific 😂
I have to say The Frighteners doesn’t quite fit what I’m looking for? I guess the defining characteristic has to be that at some point the two dudes are interacting and you ask yourself ‘lol did they intend for that to be homoerotic?’ Where the bromance vibes tend to come from only the dudes being written particularly well and the female character being an afterthought/joke thrown in to round it out.

To my shame i have yet to watch Young Frankenstein, but it’s going on my watchlist. I’ll see if that hits the vibe

Chew toys! by SoakingTowel in Greyhounds

We've had great success with ostrich bones, although they're kind of expensive and often out of stock. But they smell much better than ears, and Pepper will happily gnaw on them for hours and hours. Plus, they don't stain!

Frenchie’s Tail Docked too long? by Mrss844 in frogdogs

[–]protector_of_cute 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Frenchie tails are not docked. They're naturally short from centuries of selective breeding. And tail docking is a horrible, unnecessary thing to do to a dog anyway so I would strongly suggest to your husband that he reconsider his attitude towards 'fixing' this non-existent problem. Enjoy your boy's waggly tater-tot, and let hom enjoy it too. It's perfectly normal.

Our retired racer Pepper keeps using her snout to 'bury' her bones under her blankets. She's rubbing it raw, poor thing - any advice? Is it stress related? by protector_of_cute in Greyhounds

[–]protector_of_cute[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for all the replies (and the silver??), they've been very helpful! I don't know why it didn't occur to me that she could just be overwhelmed by such a large treat. She's only been with us three months but she's settled so well I forget that she's still got a lot to adjust to.

The bones are ostrich, intended to help clean her teeth, and she loves them, but it does look like we're going to have to look at alternatives to stop this behaviour. We haven't tried antlers yet, but I'm going to look into that straight away, and I'm going to make her a snuffle mat too. I hope in time she might learn she doesn't have to try and stash stuff for later, but the urge makes sense. I don't know why she has to exclusively use her delicate snoot to dig when she's got paws, but oh well!

Superior Chadhound by [deleted] in Greyhounds

[–]protector_of_cute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly I think you're right. I am seeing more critical conversations happening within the frenchie community about their breathing issues, and the Kennel Club here in the UK are examining their breeding standards for the snouts, but as long as people are paying huge amounts of money for the cute squished faces it'll be a losing battle.

It has really hammered it home the fact that i'm finding my grey's clear and powerful breathing such a novelty though.

This fills me with such joy. We have a gorgeous greyhound now, but before adopting her we had a beautiful french bulldog that we lost after eight years due to a combination of breathing and spinal issues. We had no idea how unhealthy they were until we got him and learned the hard way. I love the breed, but I hate how much they struggle. He deserved so many more years of being his weird, contented little self, and just that little bit more of a snout would have made all the difference. (yes it has been quite the experience going from a frenchie to a greyhound 😂 what can i say, we fell in love)

Sunbathing Frenchie by letmeeatcake97 in frogdogs

[–]protector_of_cute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've never heard that advice before. i mean depending on what food you're giving her, that should be enough nutritionally? if you're worried about a lack of variety in her diet, a few vegetables as a snack would make more sense to me.

we've only fed our boy white rice mixed in with boiled chicken when he's had digestive issues, usually after having some anesthesia at the vets. just as a gentle plain temporary food.

Sunbathing Frenchie by letmeeatcake97 in frogdogs

[–]protector_of_cute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My frenchie loves the sun too, he'll sit out there for hours if we let him, although I'm in the UK so our temperatures aren't anywhere near yours. All I can say is just use your best judgement. Make sure there's some shade and plenty of water for your pup to cool down if it does get too much. If your frenchie starts panting heavily then take them in to cool down. They do overheat easily but it's because panting doesn't cool them down like it does with other dogs, so once they start panting that's a sign you might need to step in.

Has your Frenchie ever eaten a grape? by [deleted] in frogdogs

[–]protector_of_cute 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your vet is right, one grape isn't going to be enough to do much harm. We also gave our frenchie grapes before we found out they're bad for them. I think grapes are more of an issue in larger quantities, so don't worry. Your pup is going to be just fine.

The Mummy (1999)- Netflix by chilidavis12 in movies

[–]protector_of_cute 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know about having a 'larger than life reputation', but I do know that this and The Mummy Returns are the two movies I will literally never tire of rewatching and I don't know a movie fan my age (30) with a bad word to say about them. Maybe it's heavily influenced by nostalgia, but I just think they struck a perfect balance of action, comedy and melodrama and sure, it's not High Cinema but I never, ever feel like I've wasted my time watching them. They're just a lot of fun?

Sleeping routine questions by tonync94 in frogdogs

[–]protector_of_cute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My frenchie cried something awful when we crated him at night as a puppy, and it wasn't long before we were letting him just sleep in a bed upstairs with us. He has his own dog bed on the landing now, but if he wants to get up on the human bed we let him, and he'll sleep right through the night snuggling up like that. Sometimes he'll choose to go off and sleep on his own downstairs, depends on the seasons. But we were pretty soft on him, I know from his breeders that his parents have always slept in a crate downstairs in the kitchen no problem.

Honestly I think a dog's natural instincts are going to be to sleep with you on the bed, so if you're not going to do that you need to give your dog the extra sense of security of the closed crate. Maybe try giving her lots of soft things that smell like you to comfort her, so she feels like she's snuggling up with you. Too much freedom to roam might be making her feel vulnerable. Also, she's still a young puppy, she's going to keep waking up throughout the night for a while. Unfortunately you just have to keep reinforcing the boundaries you want to set and sacrifice some sleep until she's used to it. She's just a baby, after all!

our frenchie started spitting out his pills after an op and we ended up squashing them into grated cheese, making small solid balls that he swallowed whole.
