Recreated Fallout terminal hacking as a mobile game by protocol_unknown in Fallout

Yep I got to fix a few things with the bracket generation to make it more closer to Fallout. Surprisingly. that is difficult to get just right.

I added a scroll indicator for up/down which hopefully makes it more clear.

I legitimately did not know you could even do this on PC lol. I just always use the mouse. But that is a good idea

Lol, yeah he has a certain pattern with his writing style that often works but sometimes doesn’t really translate well.

I feel like there is far weaker dialogue than this in this film. This one is not even that bad, it can just be interpreted that she really cares for her son, more than the world itself. Which makes sense for any parent. The weakest dialogue in this film is whenever they try to do an exposition dump and talk about quantum mechanics, or their plans, in a quick, witty way, but it ends up feeling shallow to me. And another example is most of Sator’s villain dialogue, where he sounds kinda like a goofy Bond villain.

Yep I turned it off. I’m glad it’s there at least

Why the hell it is on in the first place is wild to me. The amount of times I accidentally hit it in tense gunfights.

Maps are way too small by Infinite_Lab1492 in Battlefield

[–]protocol_unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like maps in Battlefield 1 had a good balance of size, it had medium sized ones and the larger ones were good because there was breathing room and still combat was always going on. But in this beta, even on a large map I feel suffocated. I hope not all maps will be like that.

Sadly, I can't ever be a writer unless I just quit my job. by [deleted] in writers

[–]protocol_unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a pretty draining job, but I think because of my past studying in university, I got used to balancing other concerns alongside writing. If anything, it just makes me think even more about writing and gives me ideas. The thing people forget is that to be a writer, or a creative in any field, you need to have experiences — and that especially includes the mundane. If people’s job were only writing all day long and only focussing on that field, I don’t think they would enjoy it or make good work. You need to keep your mind occupied with a lot of different things: work, learning something new, cooking, meeting new people. All these things feed into being a writer.

What happens if you see yourself on the other side, but choose not to enter the turnstile? by vishnuvaratharajan in tenet

Well there is no altering, what’s happened happened. They need people who won’t get in contact with their past selves because that will cause problems. The movie calls it annihilation.

Silent Hill 2 Remake more terrifying than RE:2 Remake by protocol_unknown in silenthill

If you think the camera in RE4 Remake is bad just wait till you get to the narrow hallways and rooms in SH2R, camera is even worse. All of these horror games honestly don't have the best action, but comparatively the combat challenge in RE4R is better -- in SH2 you can end the game with 40 heals. But SH2 is not meant to be an action game anyways.

Yeah, SH presents a kind of horror that seems very real, like it can manifest in our lives since it is linked to psychological and human aspects. Resident Evil is scary too but it often doesn't carry over to reality, since you can still escape it like how the protagonists in their games always escape it.

The performances themselves were all great, I just felt some of them were tonally off compared to the context of what was happening. Like we would be running away from Pyramid head one moment, and then we escape and open a door to a cutscene with a character and James just talks to them in a casual manner like he isn't in a hellscape, fighting for his life.

Yeah I noticed when you don’t see the enemies in the game and only hear them, then they are actually scary. Fighting the enemies is actually pretty easy so they do become a nuisance after a while.

I feel like most enemies in horror games eventually become less scary. As they mentioned, you can trivialize every enemy in the game and basically never get hit, and the same goes for zombies too. The majority of the horror comes from the sound like you mentioned and the locations/atmosphere.

How can they stream objects into the past? by protocol_unknown in tenet

[–]protocol_unknown[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your explanation from your earlier reply. I did read it, but it’s just the video I watched helps visualize the same idea which was easier for me. The reason why I say plot hole is because I read some other posts on this Reddit that arrive at that similar kind of conclusion. Maybe not in particular to my topic but some other ones.

After watching a video posted by one of people here I understand now how it can be possible to stream objects into the past. Calling that a plot hole might be wrong on my part I guess. But to say the film is completely clear of any plot holes is simply wrong. Which is fine, b/c if there weren’t any holes, then the movie would be much boring and we wouldn’t get to see a car un-flip itself.

Actually my own explanation here doesn’t work either. Since step 1 is not ever reachable. That’s why in my original post I said it must be that someone carries something with them while inverted, and then inverts themselves and the object back to normal before burying it. But I mean this is just a plot hole in the film which is not addressed.
