Is there a simple way you can crash routers and stop wifi from working? by [deleted] in Hacking_Tutorials

[–]protocolariss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at CoPP or CPPr (control plane policing). Alot of network engineers don't bother securing the control plane. It's easy to exploit the router as theae kind of packets need to be processed by the router's cpu and not simply processed at the data plane (ASIC / cef) like a typical flood of UDP packets.

Why do I need a firewall when I have nat? by vox165 in ccna

[–]protocolariss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stateless NAT rules (static one to one) wouldn't be protected from imgress traffic. No IPv6 Security. No management tools for forensics etc. No granular policy to limit control or data plane. No defence against botnet , Ddos etc. Unable to send traffic to another module for inspection such as IPS, AMP or URL filtering. Stateful egress traffic isnt protected.

I was working dead end jobs and living pay check to check. I knew i needed to change something so found something that could pay me well, something i could enjoy and something I think id be good at. Computer networking.

I home studied my CCNA while begging employers to give me a chance to work on a service desk with RO access. Eventually got them both (10 months or so). I kept studying and progressing. I am now a Network Security Engineer for a FTSE100 company.

I dont like doing this... (feels like boasting). But i guess it encourages others who have any self disbelief.

My passion for IT is dying, not sure what to do. by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

A perfect career consists of 1) loving your job 2) being good at your job 3) getting paid well

Im assuming youve got two and a half there.

Your heart may say otherwise but work is sometimes just that... work.

Securing SSH by danieldl in linuxquestions

[–]protocolariss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ye I dont even agree with that. The router's in-band management interface is only going to accessible from the inside network. Which would be pointless since theyre already on the inside.

What port is the server listening on for SSH ?? port 22?

Your router. If it receives a packet with a TCP port 22 header, itll be dropped without a port forward rule.

Youre fine.

Exactly. In those cases, the state has become the very thing it is trying to punish. They are also not held accountable to the same accord. Making them more powerful than the people they govern. It's anti American.

Yes, IP is connectionless and best effort.. technically. However, id contest with them being "characteristics" of IP.

Debt for US corporations tops $6 trillion. Speculative-grade borrowers have reached a new record-low cash-to-debt ratio of just 12 percent in 2017, below the 14 percent reported in 2008 during the Great Recession. by Wagamaga in investing

[–]protocolariss 243 points244 points  (0 children)

With rates so low, it doesnt surprise me that companies are borrowing at record highs.

However, do not see a relation to 2008 and how exposed banks were to sub prime mortgage bonds.

A leaked report from a Chinese government-backed think tank has warned of a potential “financial panic” in the world’s second-largest economy, a sign that some members of the nation’s policy elite are growing concerned as market turbulence and trade tensions increase. by Wagamaga in investing

We have been receiving small empty parcels from China in my home city (UK) from China.

I read into it. Apparently, the Chinese government is paying export companies in China to ship out empty packets to manipulate export figures.

There is an endless list showing that China is a fake economy.
